Finn Silver presenteert nieuwe EP en DVD: Live in Japan

Toen jonge jazz/pop band Finn Silver in mei 2011 haar debuutplaat Crossing The Rubicon uitbracht in eigen beheer, kon de band niet voorzien wat hen te wachten stond. Slechts twee weken na de release van het album ontving de band een email uit Japan. In drie regels werd hen gevraagd of single Roadtrip wellicht een week gratis beschikbaar kon zijn als ‘Single van de Week’ in de Japanse iTunes store.   Dit ene mailtje resulteerde in 60.000 downloads van de single, een #2 positie voor het album in de Japanse jazz charts en een platendeal in Japan, Korea, China en Taiwan. In januari 2012 reisde Finn Silver af naar Tokyo en Osaka. De opnames van de concerten die ze daar gaven worden nu uitgebracht als Live EP, inclusief het bijbehorende filmmateriaal dat in Japan is gemaakt door twee jonge filmmakers van The Videomatic, die de band achterna reisden tijdens deze tour.   Op 25 mei presenteert Finn Silver de beelden en opnames van de Crossing The Rubicon EP en DVD in combinatie met een uniek concert in de North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam. Finn Silver releases new EP/DVD on May 25th: Live in Japan

When Finn Silver released their debutalbum in May 2011 under their own label, the band had not foreseen what would happen. Two weeks after the release they received an e-mail from Japan asking  if would if single ROADTRIP could be freely available for free as the Single of the Week in he Japanese Itunes store.   This one e-mail resulted in 60.000 downloads of the single, a #2 position for the album in the Japanese jazzcharts and a recorddeal in Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan. In January 2012 the band traveled to Japan to perform in Tokyo and Osaka, accompanied by Richard Spaven (drums), Neil Charles ( bass) Gideon van Gelder (piano), Ben van Gelder (saxofoon), Heleen Blanken (visuals) and two  filmmakers: Thijs Molenaar and Laurens Roorda. The recordings of the concerts will be released as a live EP, including matching filmmaterial made by the two young filmmakers of The Videomatic, who have been following the band since the albumrelease in Amsterdam, and who traveled with them to Japan.   With two unique concerts we will present the audio and film footage of this live EP. Tickets are on sale today.

Vocal Session Fridolijn @ North Sea Jazz Club

Heya!

I hope you survived Christmas and that this message finds you all very well. 

Here's some new news: do you remember that slightly-outta-hand-jamsession-evening last summer, (aka my birthdayparty?) There is good news for those who couldn't make it then and/or have no memory of it anymore. The North Sea Jazz Club has invited me to come and celebrate my birthday on a monthly basis. 

Starting in January I'll be hosting a vocal jam session, every second wednesday of the month, inviting a different band or singer every time.

We'll start on January 9th with Finn Silver acoustic, meaning Jamie Peet on drums, Jeroen Vierdag on bass, Folkert Oosterbeek on keys & moi.  :) After our set the session is open to professional singers and instrumentalists to join us.
