Finn in The Force Awakens from Star Wars Insider #174.
So it’s Finn Appreciation Week and @errrybodylovesfinn commissioned me to draw our fave secret Skywalker in a college au, so I’m posting it for the free day today!
✨May the force be with y’aaaaaaaaall ✨
I really want to see TLJ :-(

Some Finn thoughts for your day:
-Finn’s an incredibly complex, creative thinker, which allows him to see things others don’t.
-In TFA, we see this play out in the split-second decisions he makes on the battlefield. By all rights, Finn, Rey, and BB-8 never should have survived the film; there were way too many odds against then. But because of Finn’s unique mind, his teamwork with Rey, and the Force working through both of them, they all made it home.
-I think the Finn fandom’s general agreement is that he’ll be promoted to Resistance leadership in TLJ, precisely because of his ability to see that which overlook. It makes him an excellent strategist, and his keen sense of right and wrong, combined with his ability to see and understand nuance, will make him an excellent leader.
-In the real world, his skills would make him an excellent doctor. He’s intensely compassionate, so his bedside manner would be A++. He’s also willing to look at things from all angles (again, flexible and creative thinking) and I think he’d catch what other doctors miss.
-Now imagine an alternate timeline of TFA, where instead of being fast-tracked to become an officer, Finn’s on the medical-track instead. Imagine Finn as a First Order pediatric specialist, taking care of all the Stormtrooper kids.
-Imagine him building genuine rapport with these tiny children, who have no one else looking out for them; imagine him slowly gaining their trust. He would teach them, one by one, that they're worthwhile, and that they have so much good to offer the world.
-Then imagine Finn-as-Moses, leading these children away from the First Order, into new purpose and life. @luminousfinn has written amazing meta about the Finn/Moses parallels, and this is just one way I could see it playing out.
-Imagine that Finn’s already made contact with the Resistance, and he knows they’ll be welcomed there. So one day a ship shows up on D’Quar, filled with the tiniest Stormtroopers anyone’s ever seen, and lead by a man who is kind, and brave, and incredibly brilliant.
How might that turn the tide of the war?
“I’m not a hero. I’m a stormtrooper.”
