Yavin IV, a moon of the same named gas giant, is covered in jungles. Only here and there ancient structures, many (but not all) of which got repurposed as hangars and command bunkers during the Galactic Civil War, peek out of the green carpet.
That war was followed by a second one, but by now peace has returned to this sector. And while the settlers don't always have it easy, at the moment one particular family is tremendously enjoying themselves riding their new "velocipedes".
Powered by muscle and subject to every bump of the road, velocipedes aren't utility vehicles to bring people from A to B. They are sports equipment for all ages and backgrounds.
After Kes Dameron had introduced the first few to the colony, now almost every settler either already owns a velocipede, is saving up for one or in the process of building their own.
Ben: "Just you wait, I'll murder you still! In the race, I mean! In a friendly manner! Okay?"
The rider in the lead chuckles at the realisation that his own insecurities have found their master in Ben Solo's. His long hair flowing behind him like a black flag, Ben is the only one to still have a chance to catch up with Finn. The tricky passages are behind the group, with only a single turn ahead. Now only strength of legs counts.
Finn: "Wouldn't it be nice if all the hot air you're making would speed you up?"
Poe, too, has realized this. With his reflexes the former combat pilot had managed to get ahead of the field, but he has no hope to overtake the two in the lead. Not on a straight stretch like this.
Why keep fighting? Finn and Ben have earned their victory. The sensible thing would be to wait for the others and then follow at a leisurely pace to eventually cheer the winners.
That stands to reason. It's part of what the Damerons believe in. And yet, after a decade of subterfuge and fighting, "giving up" requires deliberate effort. Poe's fingers tear into the handlebar...
Poe's foot hits the soil of his home planet and the velocipede comes to a halt. It is the perhaps hardest won victory of his so far.
They may have peace, they may even be able to remain relaxed with former enemies like Solo in their backs, but they'd have to lie to themselves if they claimed to also have left the war behind them.
Note: I finally found functional speeder bikes here, but I'll die on the hill that my characters would be excited about wheeled veicles, either to ride or tinker on them.
