"Luke! Kieran! Fuck- somebody come in!" My finger pressed to my ear piece as I shouted desperately, "It's an emergency you fucks!" I spat, parrying another blow, leaping backwards as a Wanderer rushed at me.
"H- Hello?" came Kieran's sleepy voice, distorted by the Metaflux.
"Kieran! Jesus Christ!" I gasped and barely ducked a jet of fire, "I need Sylus! Six wanderers, West courtyard." I managed to stab through the armor of one of the round wanderers, "Scratch that- five. He's in his room!"
"Um- okay wow I- yeah, yeah I'm going" I can hear his breathing become ragged as he kicks into a jog down the halls.
"Hurry-" I grit my teeth as my sword clashes with an insectoid arm, pushing me back a few feet. "Don't knock- it's unlocked- just go in!
"But-" he started, sounding nervous.
"Yeah yeah he'll be upset, ignore it," I cleared my throat as I pushed down a wave of embarrassment that I really couldn't afford right now, "He's um- he's going to be naked. Ignore that too."
Kieran choked on a surprised laugh but I talked over him. "He's kneeling on the floor at the foot of the bed, there's scissors on the desk across the room-" I yelped as I narrowly jumped over more fire, "just cut him out- untying will take too long. Tell him it's an emergency and where I am. I'll answer your questions later!" I grunt quietly as I'm thrown to the ground.
Kieran doesn't respond but I hear him bursting through the doors to Sylus' room, and I almost laugh as Sylus immediately starts yelling at him, Kieran yelling back explanations. Everything goes quiet when Kieran says my name, seeming to get through to him.
I manage to slice apart another of the smaller wanderers, before I hear Kieran's voice again, "He's on his way."
Sure enough I hear him faintly shouting my name in a matter of seconds, "Over here Sylus!" I cry out, dodging backwards and tripping over my feet.
My ears ring as my head hits the concrete and suddenly Sylus is standing above me, I take his outstretched hand and he hauls me to my feet, taking stance behind me, our backs together.
Under less urgent circumstances I would have laughed as I took in the disheveled state of him; he had thrown on one of his long leather dusters, but other than that he only had shreds of red rope dangling from his wrists, bright purple marks stood out against his pale throat.
I reached behind me and took his hand, feeling my the energy of my evol pooling in my palm, he felt it too and the hairs on my arms stood up as his powers flared to match mine.
Together we made quick work of the remaining three smaller wanderers, as they burst into shards of light under my blade I looked at Sylus and he nodded. With a determined look in my eye I tossed him my sword as it crackled with evol energy.
Through the blinding light that emanated from him I could see twin tendrils of red and gold twirling around my blade as he leaped towards the alpha wanderer. As he landed, he drove the blade into the ground and I was blown back as a wave of energy blasted from Sylus and tore through the wanderer.
By the time I was able to blink away the after-image of the explosion, the courtyard was clear and still again and Sylus was crouching over me, cupping my face with his hands, he looks at me tenderly and murmurs, "Kieran is lucky he's important, or else I'd kill him for seeing me like that."
I'm entering my insufferable gremlin era (aka getting into COD) and i was talking about it to my boyfriend like a week ago.
