As much as I enjoyed Father Ted, the character of Fintan Stack just made me irrationally furious.
I’m pretty sure that was the point on the writers part but still.
Nothing against Brendan Grace fwiw (RIP).
Mind you at least he got his comeuppance when he contracted a severe case of Hairy Hands Syndrome.
That’s why New Jack City was always a bit of a mixed bag of an episode in my estimation. Sure all the stuff with Father Jack was funny as hell. But Fintan Stack was just awkward as hell for me to watch. Though I did like the bit with Mrs Doyle and the cue cards.
He reminded me too much of every single school bully I had to put up with for 11 years.
Who all put me through hell, talking shit and claiming to know me better than I could, acting like they were king shit and owned the fucking place, all while ruining everything I did and resorting to petulant insults under the guise of so called “witty “banter”” and thinking they’re all SOOO clever because of it.
When they’re not. They’re barely above thoughtless human cattle. Aside from that they were all effectively the same personality imprint with a different coat of paint.
Treating me like a child all because I just happened to be different (on account of my being autistic and antisocial). I think it scared them.
Look, I don’t like bullies. Okay!
And FAR too many people today are okay with the idea that bullying (in schools, the workplace and anywhere else) is somehow necessary?!
This putrid mindset is especially prevalent in Ireland, sadly.
And I still think it’s FUCKING WRONG!
As I said.
I really DON’T like bullies.
Whether they’re real or fictional.
Fucking hell.
