             relief   is   short-lived   upon   receiving   a   surprisingly   gentle   bonk   to   the   head,   though   his   usual   defenses   around      “   villains   ”      remain   absent   ;   maybe   it’s   because   his   elder   brothers   aren’t   here   for   him   to   read   the   room,   or   maybe   it’s   just   because   the   situation   doesn’t   exactly   call   for   it.   if   they   were   really   going   to   fight   and   ask   questions   later,   surely   lagoona   would   have   made   a   jab   or   two   in   his   direction   by   now. hand   raises   to   instinctually   rub   the   afflicted   spot   on   his   head,   and   tone   shifts   from   what   is   at   first   half-hearted   offense   to   upbeat   pride,

 “   index   ”      fingers   lift   to   point   back   at   himself,   and   then   lower   so   he   can   clasp   his   hands   together   over   his   plastron.   maybe   his   tone   was   a   bit   harsh   earlier   ;   even   if   he   never   meant   any   ill-will   by   it,   it   feels   wrong   not   to   address   her   hurt.

despite appearances, annette is listening. she's looking at the pictures in a copy of morgue magazine -- some sort of fashion magazine, made for monsters -- but she hears every word coming from her fishy friend. it's boy trouble ... again. this has become a recurring theme, though annette supposes it could be much worse. “Ya sure about that?” Lambda asks, eyebrow raised. His attempt to not sound condescending (and feeling like he’d failed miserably) aside, he stays put right where he was. His hand retracted halfway just in case. He figures the least he could do is keep an eye on her until she gets back up on her own. Maybe make sure if she’s okay after. Just in case. 

“Cause I don’t know if you wanna spend the whole day on a makeshift slip and slide. Busting your backside again the floor doesn’t really sound like fun.”
