 “   index   ”      fingers   lift   to   point   back   at   himself,   and   then   lower   so   he   can   clasp   his   hands   together   over   his   plastron.   maybe   his   tone   was   a   bit   harsh   earlier   ;   even   if   he   never   meant   any   ill-will   by   it,   it   feels   wrong   not   to   address   her   hurt.

despite appearances, annette is listening. she's looking at the pictures in a copy of morgue magazine -- some sort of fashion magazine, made for monsters -- but she hears every word coming from her fishy friend. it's boy trouble ... again. this has become a recurring theme, though annette supposes it could be much worse.
