this past year was particularly bad for me. virtual school brings on its own challenges, but I learned at the same time that individuals I trusted and viewed as good friends weren't who I thought they were. their actions were beyond hurtful and damaging, and many of my anxiety and self-image issues came back, causing me to hit an all-time low over winter break. for a while, I hated everything I did and who I was, and I isolated myself (a bad habit of mine when I get into my own head that got worse when I felt my emotions weren't valid). over the course of the past few months, I've been thankful enough to be surrounded by some truly incredible individuals who have helped to lift me up. now, I have one year of college left and I've made myself a promise: I'm not going to hold myself back. I don't want to let my fears and anxieties consume me anymore or prevent me from reaching my full potential, or let the mean kids occupy my mind for another second. I want to keep moving forward and growing. now, there ain't no strings on me, but I'm learning to find the courage to fly.
