#1: The author gets the characters HORRIBLY wrong. A prime example of this is Hecuba in that book. The author wrote her as a..cursing at everyone, being kept away for being a "mad old woman" and generally being hostile to even her own daughters. That is NOT Hecuba bro 🙏🏻🙏🏻 (keep in mind the primary source for this book is Euripides' Trojan Women)

#2: Hector and Andromache's relationship.

Alright, the author says hector was around 40 and Andromache was a teenager during their marriage. And I know that was normal for those times, but I find absolutely NO source which says this. (Philastratos or posthomerica for example, say that Andromache was probably around 25-30 years old during the end of the war. Philastratos says that Hector probably died at 30.) So where's the author getting these absurd age gaps from?? 😭😭

The author ALSO says that Andromache was a shy little kitten who couldn't do anything while Hector was avoidant of their relationship and flirted with other women.

(also I heard that Hector was abusive to andromache as well...atp bro ..💔)

#3: She implied Hector x Helen. *Deep sigh.*

I don't remember the exact lines but the book said something like this "Hector and Helen often exchanged glances, though Hector was too noble to leer at her openly."

GODS FORBID A MAN IS NICE TO A WOMAN WHO GETS BLAMED FOR THE WAR BY ALMOST EVERYONE AROUND HIM.

The author basically says that Hector and Priam were nice to Helen because they were "secretly captivated" by her beauty and couldn't say anything against her for that..Hector and Priam not being able to say anything..alright bro this ain't Hector and Priam 😭😭🙏🏻

#4: Menelaus is an abusive asshole.

Of course we can't have a menelaus who forgives Helen after he sees her. OFCOURSE WE CAN'T. AND THE SOURCE IS EURIPIDES FOR A REMINDER.

Menelaus has an argument with Agamemnon, He constantly harasses and abuses Helen and uses vulgar terms to refer to her.

#5: Helen is horribly mischaracterized as well.

She is shown as a selfish and vain woman who constantly flirts with Paris' brothers, especially Hector. And also..Priam. (WHY WHY WHY 😭😭😭😭)

There are more flaws in this retelling, for example we have a really.. questionable Patrochilles relationship and Patroclus. We have Helenus being a sad mindless boy (what did they do to him), but these were my personal ones that I crashed out on.

So..I would say read this at your own risk! I honestly would NOT recommend this book to anyone after everything. 😃

Well, about them being friends in the underworld. Perhaps, if the circumstances have both of them in a state of sadness and mourning rather than resentment.

Otherwise, I think they'd lunge on each other the second they'd meet in the underworld.
