Okay everyone I just got back from seeing catching fire and I wanted to give a review for it.. (WARNING; THIS WILL CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS, SO IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T READ ANY FURTHER UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN IT)
Here we go, I want to start off by saying I am a HUGE fan of the books.. Basically it took all of my strength to wait for this movie lol anyways Finnick is probably my favorite character out of the whole trilogy, obviously he was introduced in the 2nd book and at first I thought he was a stupid douchebag, but he crept up on me, kinda like Annie did to him (brb dying of feels) Anyways, long story short I fell in love with yet again another fictional character (not sorry).. I gotta admit, at first I was really disappointed in the casting of finnick because tbh I don’t think any living human being can live up to my expectations of finnick, but I was really impressed and Sam did an excellent job especially on the sugar cube scene (I think my ovaries exploded, but that’s for another story). I think he was a really good finnick and I had a feeling they knew what they were doing when they picked him to play finnick…
Okay, so overall I was REALLLLLY impressed with this movie, although there were a lot of my favorite parts in the book that they didn’t include in the movie (Bonnie and Twill, Katniss and Peeta watching Haymitch’s games, etc) also it seemed like the games were rushed a lot, but I really don’t think there is anyway that they could fit every single detail, which is why I love the books because you actually get to hear Katniss’ thoughts the entire time.. And plus it was a long ass movie, I think about 3 hours or so.. OH MY GOD LOL I DIED DURING THE JOHANNA STRIP SCENE LOL IT WAS HILARIOUS, anyways, I was kinda bummed that they didn’t include Johanna’s quote “I don’t care if you’re knocked up, I’ll rip your throat out” it seems like they just ignored the whole “baby” thing, I mean if I remember correctly in the book finnick acknowledges it atleast once.. I also really wanted them to include the “My nightmares are usually about losing you” quote by peeta because I love that quote it’s one of my favorites.. One thing I really loved is the arena, it was almost exactly how I pictured it in my head they did an amazing job with that… Okay, so this is a really unpopular opinion, but I liked how they ended it.. It was pretty much exactly how it ended in the book, what did people expect, for them to straight into mocking jay? Alright, I think I probably need to wrap this up.. I really loved the movie and of course I never expected it to be exactly like the book because it’s impossible to fit it all unless you want a 5 hour movie, which I wouldn’t have minded btw ;)
Also, I realize I’ve only talked about finnick’s casting, but everyone else I truly wasn’t worried about.. Although, I never expected Annie to have red hair, I always expected it to be darker..
This is why the books are always better than the movies, period… Anyways, I’m sure there is stuff I missed that is in the book and isn’t in the movie, but I haven’t re-read catching fire in almost a year so my memory isn’t perfect.. (I really need to re-read it again so I can memorize every single last word in this perfect book lol) I don’t know if I can handle waiting for the next movie, but I’m kinda glad they are splitting the movies into 2 parts because I don’t think I could handle it all at once Lawlz..
