I've seen some folks here on Tumblr have differing opinions on this matter. I really like Rune's point that our spirituality and understanding of these beings in the present need not be limited to the Viking age conceptions of them. Our relation to and understanding of spirits of all kinds can and does change over time and across cultures. I think Rune provides enough historical evidence to show that this association with fire isn't entirely unfounded. I know I have UPG connecting Loki to kenaz, a rune associated with fire and its illuminating property. How is that any more or less valid than a centuries old interpretation of who Loki is? Even if you don't personally connect Loki with fire, I hope you can appreciate and understand why others have this connection.
