Honestly, I think we are all sleeping on that scene where Zuko is on a date with Jin and she takes him to her favorite place in the city. The candles aren't lit. Zuko is so compassionate that he risks being discovered as a fire-bender to relight the candles and brighten Jin's night. But the most important part of this scene that we never acknowledge is the skill and precision with which Zuko lights every single candle. He never misfires. He never catches the candle covers or anything else on fire and he does all of this in a matter of seconds. If that isn't masterful fire-bending, I don't know what is.

Whenever I have martial arts class or I'm sparring someone at a tournament this is the only song going through my head. As well as the "Agni Kai" music from the first series. I just want to be cool. :l

I wonder if ever a mad fire-bending scientist could create the smallest of fires in his palm, and with the fingers of his other, stretch it. As we know, fire lives. It grows so I'm suggesting it be stretched while suppressing it's growth. 

The result I'm trying to visualise is a string of light. So the heat is faint, but due to the suppression, it glows brightly. Now, if we were to release the suppression that keeps it in that state, we'd expect an explosion of light. Not heat, all the heat has been absorbed by the bender and possibly released through his breath or whatnot.
