i am absolutely gobsmacked that this person claims the cops are there to defend against the possibility of mass murder. i was at the pride parade last year, and the thing that scared me the most was the plainclothes officers on the ROOFS of buildings downtown with heavy weaponry. that's not safety, that's reminding vulnerable communities that we're being watched. officers don't need to be in uniform in the parade. that's not friendly, that's a show of force
