Hii Soph!! (take as long as you need to answer) now that it has been confirmed that there's going to be a season 4 of Stranger Things what would you like to see and who do you think is going to be the obstacle that they're going to face? Who do you think this season is going to revolve around and what questions that haven't been answered would you like to see solved?
Hi my love!!!! Even though being teased by the st writers is annoying as hell since we’re almost always wrong, I LOVE theorising and trying to work out what’s going to happen!!!!
Okay so, I’m gonna break this down into parts: what would I like to see? Personally, I want them to shake up the group dynamics a little. I want more family bonding time because it was honestly lacking in s3. I want them to strip it all back a bit and go back to some of the mystery and magic of s1. I loved s3 but it was very LOUD and plot driven, I’d love some more character driven arcs and a look into more of the world that’s been created, namely the upside down. As a mileven shipper, I’d like them to reunite and be able to to work together more this season to fight the Big Bad, which is going to tie into something I’m going to say in a minute. As a Steve fan, I want him to continue to get great arcs and my dream headcanon is for him to join the police force now Hopper is suspected dead. I think it makes a lot of sense since he’s a natural protector and someone needs to fill that role while Hopper is away. I want the loss of El’s powers to MEAN something and I want to see how they handle her self-esteem potentially being tied to her powers, and what effect the loss of those powers might have on her.
Who do you think is going to be the obstacle they’re going to face? If it’s not Brenner this time, I’m gonna SCREAM. I have been WAITING for him to come back, waiting for that final showdown. I really want them to kind of explore the moral grey areas in here, because he was such a manipulative character and had such a strong hold over El. I believe Hopper will be back by the time a showdown took place, and i’d love (to hate) to see the mind games Brenner would play with El with her dad, Hopper, vs. him, Papa. I want him to bring up the fact Hopper sold El out to get Will back in s1, and see how they all handle that emotionally. I think a really good angle would also be putting Mike in danger, the person she’s trusted from day one, to see how far El would push herself. I have said this to many people I know, but I truly believe El has a hero complex. She doesn’t know when to stop, especially for the people she loves and especially regarding the person who gave her a home for the first time! And Mike knows this. He knows she would literally DIE rather than see anyone get hurt, especially him, which is where I think he was coming from in s3, not trying to manipulate or control her at all. She doesn’t know her limits, and that’s why I feel she needs people like Mike looking out for her so she doesn’t push them too far and hurt herself. Having said that, I’d love to see her push them, just to see how far she’d go, I think it would be an interesting angle for her character for sure! (Also re obstacles: the Demogorgon, but who knows WHAT is going on there, so I’m gonna ignore that for now and focus on the human villain, haha).
Who do you think this season is going to revolve around? Personally I think it’s going to be mainly El, Hopper, Joyce and if he comes back, Brenner. I feel like they all have unfinished business with each other for various reasons, especially El with all the adults in her life. I want to see her and Joyce bonding a lot more, and she has MUCH to discuss with Hopper, as do Hopper and Joyce. Selfishly I’d love Steve to have a big part, and I really enjoyed the Mike x Lucas friendship from last season, so I’d love to see more of that too!
What questions that haven't been answered would you like to see solved? Oh my gosh, SO many! What is the upside down? What is the dynamic between the Mind Flayer and the Demogorgon? Are they his army, or do they just coexist? Was the Demogorgon from s1 going rogue when he left the UD? How are they going to explain all that? Where is Hopper? Where has Brenner been hiding this whole time? Are we ever going to see more of the other lab experiments, and if so, how are they going to make it relevant now the plot doesn’t really call for them anymore? Most importantly: how will this all end? What does an ending even LOOK like? I feel like s3 was definitely a middle of the series season, and I’d love two more to wrap it up completely, but I just have NO idea where they’re going to take it from here. I have a feeling a lot of things from s3 aren’t going to be relevant going forward, such as all the people that are chemicals and died, unless they’re willing to incorporate a wider government conspiracy than the Americans vs Russians one they’ve touched on. That’s another point—where are we going with this Russian drama? How did the Demogorgon get to Russia? DID they manage to open a gate there, and if so, how? Alexei himself said the gate was location specific and weaker in Hawkins, and now that it’s seemingly been left a little bit open (three inches, perhaps?) does that mean other portals can just pop up in other places, like in s1? How far are they willing to take this until it’s a ‘worldwide’ conspiracy? Because honestly I think if they take it too far out of Hawkins, the show will lose some of its magic and charm!
Thank you so much for this ask, I had so much fun answering it! Hope you like some of my responses, and let me know what you’re thinking!!!! 💓💖💕💘💗💞
