Where the Freaks At? || Hero Squad
There was absolutely no way Finn and the other heroes were sitting by while Pansaw was under attack by some juiced up Nephilim. Especially Finn, considering he had a bone to pick with those fuckers for destroying his home. Everyone had gotten suited and geared up, collected their emergency Meta Steroid (save for Hope who was working her magic to keep them all safe and alive behind her computers), and spread out across town to the points with most damage.
Finn had come out a little later than his friends, needing to make sure his dogs were safely inside the Hero lounge with food and water, and wouldn’t disturb Hope. He perched now on a high rooftop in Wayland Hills, surveying the damages and sirens of emergency vehicles blaring in the darkened town. He’d faced some absolute shit before, but nothing as bad as this. With a deep breath, the vigilante injected himself with the Meta Steroid, figuring he’d definitely be needing it. Not too long after, he could physically feel the effects like pure lightning running through his veins. He activated his com system linked to the other Hero Squad members, speaking into it.
“A’ight, bitches,” he greeted them, clapping his hands together. “Who needs some help kicking ass? Tell me where the freaks at.”

Fire with Fire (AU) || Seth & Kelli
Seth was out on patrol in his usual area, torn between hating how extremely bored he was and hoping he would stay bored. He was in one of those moods where he was partially wishing it would be a quiet night, but that didn’t seem to be the case tonight. It was hard to miss the bright red hair just a few feet ahead of him as he walked, and his attention was then diverted to the redhead’s face...now that was familiar. He knew he recognized that face from C.A.R.M.A’s intel. Kelli Byrd, one of the Rebels, according to their information. The agent was tempted to just walk past her like he had no idea who she was, but he also knew that if he returned back to base empty-handed, the higher ups would have his ass. He should not have activated his Smart Eye...
“Kelli Byrd,” he called out, stopping close to her as he reached for a Neuralring. “I’d suggest you come with me unless you’d rather cause a public scene.”
@fire-byrd
Teddy had a hunch, a really bad hunch that they had another subsect of their powers that they had yet to figure out. They weren’t keen on the idea of figuring it out but here they were anyway, chilling at the meeting table and eating cup noodles. They were trying to find some calm but they didn’t know how to deal with the changes they were dealing with. It was way worse than puberty honestly and they really weren’t a big fan. They ate the ramen slowly though, flipping through old texts with Zach on their phone, trying not to think about how much they missed him.
It’d be easy to talk to him about this stuff but he was doing some dumb C.A.R.M.A. thing so they didn’t get to talk to him all that much. They heard someone walk into the base and they perked up just a bit, wondering who was there. “Hey!” Teddy called out, “I don’t know who’s here but come over, I need some help with something.”

☁
☁ five times my muse has thought about yours, and the one time they do something about it.
ONE. In the beginning days of C.A.R.M.A, shortly after Finn and Kelli had started getting close as friends. Kelli had gotten injured on a mission––nothing major, but it was enough to have her visit the infirmary. He had just been dispatched on his own mission with a senior agent, so he never had the chance to visit her, but he couldn’t stop worrying about his friend.
TWO. It was early last year, around when Kelli started getting involved with Marshall in C.A.R.M.A. Kelli was happy and excited to have found him and he cared about her, and while Finn smiled and nodded and expressed his enthusiasm, he had his doubts. He didn’t know much Marshall, but he knew that the man was a C.A.R.M.A scientist. They couldn’t all be trusted so easily. But Kelli was his best friend, and he had no proof of anything so he kept his mouth shut and thoughts to himself.
THREE. Finn felt lonely now that both Kelli and Alexandra had gotten out of C.A.R.M.A. Sure, he still had friends in the organization like Aaliyah, whom he loved and adored like another sister, but the other two he felt closer with in terms of their “experiences” of being forced into the Meta Squad. He also felt slightly betrayed that Kelli had left him behind to go with this guy she just started dating or whatever they were doing––what the hell happened to “bros before hoes?” He was angry, upset, but also understanding in her decision to get out. If he had the opportunity to get his own ass, he probably would have taken it. Despite all his emotions, Finn couldn’t stop thinking about Kelli, and hoping that wherever she was, she was happy and safe.
FOUR. The news reports of a couple of Metahumans attacking the city had been the main story of Pansaw for at least a week now. One of them was Kelli Byrd, his best friend and someone he considered a sister. He couldn’t believe what she was doing. He had never expected this...this evil to be buried deep within the redhead. The two of them may have done some messed up things in C.A.R.M.A, but he knew that they weren’t this kind of terrible. “Shit, Byrd,” Finn muttered to himself one night in his apartment as he watched the news. He was extremely worried and concerned about his friend, but he had no idea what to do. “What have you gotten yourself into?”
FIVE. It was all his fault. It was all his fault that Kelli couldn’t remember him or anything else. If he hadn’t turned away for a second, that psionic wouldn’t have had the chance to mind blast her. Finn had the opportunity to prevent his friend from getting hurt and he didn’t take action fast enough. It was all his fault. He couldn’t look at Kelli for very long without feeling an overwhelming guilt fill the pit of his stomach. No matter what Alexandra or Hope told him, Finn was still angry at himself for not doing something that night. For a while, he stayed away from Kelli, unable to face her even though she couldn’t remember him. But he hoped that her amnesia wasn’t permanent, that there was a way to fix it. Maybe his sister could help her, or another telepath, but what were the odds of those chances? What if they made her mind even more of a mess than it already was? He had no idea what to do...
SIX. Finn knew that he was never always the best with emotional situations. He had a very unhealthy method of coping for a lot of them, honestly. Tonight was one of those nights where one box of issues he had just popped open and now he was lying awake in bed in the middle of the night, staring at the ceiling as his mind was filled with thoughts. Sometimes he wondered if he had been selfish in some situations with his friends and family...even if he had, they knew he cared about them, right? They had to...right? Maybe he should have sucked up his own guilt and been there for Kelli more when she had lost her memory, or he should have expressed his opinion about how Marshall seemed sketchy. She knew he cared, right? “Fuck it,” Finn muttered, jumping out of bed and grabbing the first shirt and pair of pants he could throw on. Once dressed, he teleported himself into Kelli’s room. She was sleeping, obviously––it was 4:13 in the morning. “Psst, Red,” he said, reaching over to poke her roughly in the shoulder. This elicited a series of events starting with a shocked gasp, a startled awakening from Kelli, and Finn nearly being set on fire. Thank god Kelli realized it was him before anything happened.
“What the hell, Finn!?” she hissed, lying back down and rubbing at her face with her hands. “What are you even doing here at this hour? Shouldn’t you be asleep or something? Is something wrong?”
“No, no, nothing’s wrong, I, uh, just––you know I love you, right?” Finn asked. Kelli pulled her hands away from her eyes to stare at him deadpanned. “Like, I know I can be shitty about showing it sometimes, but you know I care about you. And I don’t want anything bad to happen to you cause it’d absolutely kill me, and yeah. All that mushy shit.”
“....Is that what you broke into my home at four in the morning, and woke me up for? Oh my god, you’re such an idiot, of course I know that,” Kelli replied, rolling over onto her side and pulling the covers back up. “I love you too, jackass, now go back home and sleep.”

“We’ve both done fucked up things, got fucked over by fucked up people, and we’re just as equally fucked up. It’s why we’re such good friends.”
I know it’s shocking that I remembered your birthday, but thankfully my mind is getting it’s act together and I did. I saw this and just knew I had to get it for you.
Try not to drink it all in one sitting unless of course you’re going to share.
Love, Kelli
