Pen Pals || Tori & Mary
Having a pen pal was one of Tori’s favorite hobbies; it was a mysterious yet comforting contact to someone similar to herself. Even more exciting (and even a bit terrifying) was finally meeting her in person.
Tori didn’t have the usual anxiety she experienced when meeting someone knew--not this time, because she knew Mary was a shy and creative soul like herself.
Preparing tea for the both of them, Tori made sure her home was in shape to have a guest over, getting ready right until the moment she opened the door.
Butterfly Effect || Oracle & Mary
Mary:
When Mary set out that morning, sketchbook in hand, she had expected to find the kind of beauty she had dreamed of her whole childhood– outside the window and across the water, far beyond her reach. But that was the natural beauty of Arcadia, its lush flora and fantastical fauna, and this was something else entirely.
This was the sort of thing that set it apart from home, and made it truly magical.
Monarchs, Swallowtails, Birdwings, a Raja Brooke– so many she couldn’t keep track, couldn’t name them fast enough. She simply stared in silence and wonder, and an almost reverent sense of awe.
An Agrias settled on the tail of her braid, and broke the spell with a lazy spread of its jewel-toned wings. She laughed in spite of herself, realizing too late that by doing so, she had drawn attention to her presence at the edge of the clearing.
“I- I’m sorry to bother you….. but that… was incredible.”
A woman, petite in size, stopped to admire the work done by Oracle. The alchemist couldn’t help but smile as she watched the black-haired woman from afar. She hadn’t expected someone to wander into the forest this time of day, but she was glad that this one did. Her success wasn’t a complete waste as another person was able to see the beauty. And unfortunately her, too.
“Oh...”
Oracle hesitated as she often did in front of strangers. When she wasn’t in need of a guinea pig or distracted by her work, she became shy in the presence of other people.
“Thank you.”
She smiled.
