I don't want to bother you, but when I make posts asking everyone to please ask their representatives to remove Abbott and Cruz from office, I get like five notes.

If we wait for re-election a lot of people will not survive it so I'm begging and I'm sorry for sending you this, I know you're already very stressed, I just don't understand how to gain momentum here.

I know phone calls are hard but @resistbot still exists, you can still text them at 50409, and Abbott just lifted the mask mandate.

People caught covid because they sheltered people who were displaced due to the storm. Some people still don't have drinking water and can't afford to fix their homes. And my parents are acting like it's ridiculous to accuse Abbott of any wrongdoing, and they're not the only ones.

I really tried to make this work on my own before contacting you, but although I've seen a bunch of people talking about how bad it is and sharing advice, I haven't seen a lot of traction for the call your reps bit.

I appreciate those other posts, but what's going to help the most is getting this yahoo out of office. And I don't have high hopes, but this is one way to do that.

Thank you for everything you're already doing for other people, I can see you help a lot and I'm sorry again for disturbing you.

I looked up sodium selenite because my dog has a heart condition, and one result says that it's potentially toxic for ALL dogs. Is this actually true?

Given that the only sources I can find for its toxicity are biased, unscientific pet food blogs, I would strongly doubt it. Of course anything, including water, will be toxic in excess, but an appropriate amount will be helpful or at least harmless.

Help! I went to mention a site I used to use for fanfic in a comment, and then realized that I don't remember the name of the site.

I think it started with an O. I've tried searching for fanfic sites and I haven't seen it mentioned yet. It was all black and white, including the logo, and had a separate posting section for art.

It doesn’t ring a bell offhand.

What era was this? 90s? 00s? 10s? What kind of fandoms were on it? Was this an archive you could have a posting account on, or did you just read on it? Did it have forums?

There have been a hell of a lot of fanfic sites over the years, and only certain ones tend to get mentioned by fandom history people (e.g. Western fandoms tend to be overrepresented compared to anime, popslash tends to be overrepresented compared to other music RPF).

I'm not coping well with today how bout you

Today’s kind of a giant shitshow, isn’t it? I had CNN on for way too long while I murderously raged and tried to keep doing my job. I talked about the absurdity of it all with some friends. Hugged my spouse a lot. Checked in with my cousin, who lives and works in the middle of all that bullshit, to make sure she’s safe (she is). Played with my dog. Did some doom scrolling. I’m currently watching a comfort show and pecking at Cantata. 

Trying to function in a country that’s determined to fall apart, is clinging to hatred and oppression, and is perfectly fine with letting its citizens die from a pandemic while letting a madman dismantle us piece by piece, is exhausting. I am exhausted.

I’m not coping well with today either, but I’m still here, and so are you, and I think on days like today that’s a job well done.

Hi do you know how to discourage wasps from building a nest by the door? This isn't my house so it's probably not going to end the way I want it to but I can at least give them ideas. Or try to leave something behind, idk.

I’m definitely not an expert on that I’m afraid! But it’s useful to find out which species you’re dealing with first, and then you can google ways to prevent them from building nests. Good luck, though, they can be pretty dang determined if they find a spot they like.
