Royal Exchange Assurance Fire Mark Lead 18th Century Georgian Fire Brigade Insurance Plaque

For just €220.00 An Original Mid to late 18th century lead Fire mark for Royal Exchange Assurance Founded in 1720, In excellent condition for its age with remnants of its original paint in some areas. These Fire Marks originates from just after the great fire of London In 1666, When they created an insurance system and fire companies ( The first Organized Fire Fightrers) Who would then attatch these plaques to homes which would grant protection to that home in the case of a fire. The history of the early Fire brigades is very interesting and well worth looking up! The Insurance Number on this plaque is 1 1388 1 These Marks are categorized by their Wright Number (This example appears to be W10D / A10B ) Brian Wright, created the system in his Guide to british fire marks. The plaque measures approx. 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" (24cm x 19cm) All Vintage Items are dispatched using Priority mail with tracking and will be carefully packaged and sent Same day where possible, Exluding public holidays and Days where the post office has closed.
