How long had Shamus been off stage? Five minutes? Ten? It didn’t matter much. There wasn’t going to be much time before it was time for Pumpkin carving and there was too much on May’s mind for her not to hunt him down.
And when she did find him? She acted much more like a parent or a big sister than a mentor who wouldn’t admit she had a crush. Grabbing him by the arm of his jacket, May dragged Shamus off until she knew he would willingly follow. “We need to talk. Now. Like. Right now!” They were going to the pumpkin room. Why the pumpkin room? Because only one other person could access it, that’s why.
She exhaled once they got there, relieved to know that, for now, they were alone. Ka-thunking onto the couch, she gestured to the other side. “Have a seat! Sorry for totally hi-jacking you. It’s an emergency.”
