♘ -- a memory of their sibling(s)
“The first boy Ranis ever brought home, Sabani ended up giving him a fat lip. Can’t even remember why, some passing comment or other. Ranis was mortified, poor girl, but he was a good sport. Got along well with Iredren, I recall. The two of ‘em broke up after a couple o’ months, but I think they were still friends. He ended up being one o’ the unlucky ones during the Oblivion Crisis, poor lass was heartbroken.”

Lex gave the fellow Breton a slow once-over, as if absorbing all the details about him before she merely shrugged her shoulders. “Well, he ain’t bad to look at, I suppose. Looks like he’s got a good body on him. Wonder what he does for a living? But the more important question is whether or not he can hold his liquor.”
♕ - Their teen years
“I was…I-I was very angry. About a lot of things. I was homesick, and I missed my Da, and I hated everything about Cyrodiil. I didn’t have any say in anything. Mother said I was too young to know what I really wanted, so she just decided everything for me and I was supposed to smile and do as I was told. And I did sometimes,” she admitted, making a sour face, “Arguing is tiring, and sometimes it just wasn’t worth it. Especially when no one listened to anything you said. I never felt very welcome there, everything thought I was odd...or...at least, everyone my mother made me spend time with. I’m sure there were plenty of folks who wouldn’t have minded me as much, I just wasn’t allowed to see them. I was meant to spend time with proper people, who would be a good influence on me and all that rubbish.”
She huffed, and rolled her eyes, “Then I ran away, and that was better for a little while. It was very exciting at first, and I was quite happy. But it got harder after a while, as I ran out of coin. I’d never been completely on my own like that before, and it was a lot harder than I expected...w-which sounds stupid. I didn’t expect everything to be simple and easy or anything but...i-it was just a lot different than I thought it would be. It was very lonely. Even after I met Bohr, and the others, and started traveling with them, I was still lonely. I felt safer with them, but I didn’t belong with them anymore than I did with my family in Anvil. I knew I shouldn’t have been with them, but pretended that I didn’t. I knew if I’d stayed by myself, I’d have died, and that was really scary. It’s always scary I guess, but it seems worse, somehow, when you’re sixteen.”
Halldis felt her throat tighten, and it was hard to breathe for a moment. But she soon cleared her throat, and continued, “I was stupid then. Going with them was stupid, and I wish I hadn’t. I think that’s one of the only things I really truly regret. But my only other choice was going back to Cyrodiil, and I wasn’t about to do that. Even after...” she paused, and swallowed against a lump in her throat, “Even after Rhild...I couldn’t go back. I came close, once, but...I knew I’d have to tell everyone what happened, and it was too humiliating. It was awful enough that it happened at all, I couldn’t stomach actually telling anyone. I was alone again, for a long time after that. It was just me and Uthur. I could hardly stand going into towns sometimes, especially if it was busy. Being around strangers made me uneasy...i-it still does sometimes, but it was much worse back then. I had a hard time even talking to shopkeepers, taverns were terrifying, I just...I was alone, and lonely, and scared. But I did it on purpose. I made myself be alone...there are lots of things worse than all that.”

The mer gave a low whistle. “That’s quite a bow, alright. I don’t know much about bowyering, mind, but I know some quality craftsmanship when I see it.”

Madaj likes his company! He is willing to cause the mischief, yes? To play along with her that she is just a simple cat? Good! He has the bright future, if he continues to have this attitude. To be near to Khajiit is near to the gods, yes?

Is that...is that ebony? Oh my goodness, your bow is beautiful.

Her hair was soaking, plastered to her face and she gave a violent shiver as thunder rumbled above them. The tree branches they had ducked under didn’t provide much shelter and she gave Tristan a lopsided grin, pushing a wet strand of hair out of her eyes.
“I reckon we might as well keep going and get to an Inn. This doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon and we’re already soaking. ,” she eyed the skies warily. “I don’t think it’s going to get much worse, but I’d rather be inside with a warm fire right now.”
