Eidolon and Erebus judging you for Marine Meat Monday
Yes, it's the "acquired taste bad boys"-brigade! I love them both and will defend them armed with quotes and armoured in lore.

Eidolon and Erebus judging you for Marine Meat Monday

Chibi-Erebus with his tzeentchian wings from the short story "Visage".
Look at him having fun!
hello again!! i just wanted you to know, i’ve been reading a LOT of warhammer books (both fantasy and now 40,000 which i have you to thank for getting me into!) and every time lucius or fulgrim comes up, i immediately think “oh! that’s my favourite artist’s chaos goblin!”
needless to say, you’ve had an impact. i hope you’re doing well, it’s always a pleasure to see your posts cross my dash. hail slaanesh!
Why, thank you very much! I am proud to have infected you with two very memorable guys!
Buuuuuuut! Have you heard about another guy I really like, who did a few very cool things and got away with it?
(Apparently it's Erebus-day. And I like that!)
Some brand new First Chaplain/Dark Apostle for you!
Erebus. Because I still like him so very much.
Three versions of colouring (or not colouring) Erebus for Marine Meat Monday.
In his stone-grey Mark IV plate, inscribed with bas-relief legacies of his deeds, Erebus was a sombre, serious figure. His rank in the XVII was first chaplain, roughly equivalent to that of Abaddon or Eidolon. He was a senior commander of that Legion, close to Kor Phaeron and the primarch, Lorgar, himself. His quiet manner and soft, composed voice commanded instant respect from all who met him, but the Luna Wolves had embraced him anyway. The Wolves had historically enjoyed a relationship with the Bearers as close as the one they had formed with the Emperor’s Children.
Abnett, Dan. Horus Rising (Horus Heresy Book 1) (S.373). Black Library. Kindle-Version.
First appearance of Erebus during the Heresy. He gets friendly with the Mournival, spars with them and Lucius and Saul and beats everybody except Lucius.
I love him.
I’ve come a confused woman. Your blog has made me realize how hatred truly does give way to attraction. Your blog has made me consider that Erebus is attractive, smart and it makes my skin crawl. He’s so slimy! But he’s so slimy (complimentary). I hate him. I feel like a cat hissing at growl at a predator to stay away. He will only bring ruin to me but a little part of me want to get to know him more.🤬
I don't think he's slimy. He's smooth when you stroke him in the right direction and very bristly when you get the wrong direction!
I was lucky in that I've never been interested in the self-proclaimed lore gods on YouTube or the meme heroes on Reddit, so I was able to get to know Erebus at my own pace and without any baggage. This made it easy to engage with this complex character and decide whether I liked him or not.
Come to think of it - that's probably why I like so many of the characters that generally don't do well in the fandom. I had the opportunity to get to know them the way I wanted to. And didn't have a preconceived notion in the back of my head that some moron on YouTube or Reddit thought was the right one.
This fuels my "ceterum censeo" - lore-tubers and Reddit are the last thing you should use to approach the Warhammer universe. Always just the source material.
Work in progress: Erebus
I've seen a lot of posts hating on Erebus, lately. That is why I would now like to take up the cudgels for my favourite villain.
He's not really worse than the rest of the gang, but since he never felt the need to develop morals or build ethics around his actions (he didn't even pull the "bad childhood" card), he comes across as much colder and less likeable than the "poor victims" Angron or Perturabo, who couldn't help their circumstances.
And of course it doesn't help that he is smarter than most, but doesn't have the wisdom to hide it.
I really, really like him.
