Oh my goodness, I just read all of your raihan stories. I absolutely love how you write him! Could you write more? 🙏😳 literally anything, it’s so good ahhh
Hehe, it means a lot that you like my writing that much! Thank you! Raihan’s a fun one~
Vague abusive ex plot line and angst into fluff ahead~
Raihan tapped the edge of the table, hand on his cheek, and a very obvious scowl on his face. He was scrolling through your feed, seeing that you were being doted on by all of these people, especially other males. Let’s be real here, everyone in Galar thought you were attractive, even though you were so horribly oblivious to it. So, with these fans, and even other gym leaders, taking all of your time and energy? Yeah, Raihan found himself starting to get a bit jealous.
But of course, good for you, right? Like him, you hadn’t had much before the gym challenge, and now suddenly you were famous. It was a wonder you were taking it so well. Yet, as he started to scroll from least to most recent, he saw that in these photos with fans, that something was changing. He stopped for a second on one picture, and then to the next one, and then the next. With each picture he looked at, your level of tiredness and fatigue seemed to grow, though he didn’t think that many people caught it.
It was really obvious a couple days after that. You were simply standing outside of Hammerlocke gym, looking over the wall into the wild area. He spotted you, and started to make his way over, when a very excited male fan started to make his way over as well. Raihan instinctively stopped, and decided to lean in the shade of the Pokemon center to really observe your reaction.
First thing he noticed was your shoulders immediately slumping. Then the tired, but also kind of fake smile to him. But what really threw Raihan for a loop was the fact that the fan immediately throw his arm around you, causing you to shrink slightly. Something was wrong, and he slowly started to make his way over, as to not draw attention. Eventually, he was close enough to eavesdrop on the conversation.
“--And we could go to Stow-in-Side in the evening, admiring the view like we used to. C’mon! It’ll be fun!”
“I think I’m okay,” you said, a hard edge to your tone as you ducked under his arm. The male looked confused, and slightly angry. He put his hands on his hips and gestured over to you.
“Listen, I know I wasn’t the best in the past. I’ve changed! We both have! And besides, I know all the best things you like, and what not to do now! I’ll treat you better than anyone else, just c’mon--”
It was when he went in to grab you, and you immediately flinching that Raihan stepped in, basically grabbing the guy by the shoulders and giving him a little shove back. And, as customary for when his blood was boiling, he had on the classic “I’m going to kick your ass” smile and gaze. He held his arms out to the side, completely blocking you from this asshole’s view.
“I think what she was trying to say was a hard no, buddy. Now, do us a favor...” He put his hands into his pocket, and leaned down so he was really close to his face, and practically growled at him with as much ferocity as the beasts he wielded. “Get the fuck out of here.”
Your ex nearly fainted from the sheer encounter, and ended up falling on his ass and turning tail. Raihan just leaned back with a little chuckle, turning to face you again with his casual demeanor. You looked a little shaken, but you weren’t injured. What Raihan didn’t expect was the sudden tackle hug you gave him. He also didn’t expect his face to immediately flush. He held you back, not exactly knowing what to do with his mind rushing a million miles an hour.
He especially didn’t know how to speak English when you broke away, pulled him down by the hoodie and kissed his cheek. He pulled away, wide eyed and obviously flustered, and you had your own blush cresting your cheeks. Your smile was nervous, but it was genuine, and you giggled a little at his reaction.
“I guess dragons can save princesses too, huh Raihan?”
“Guhuh?”
You giggled even more at Raihan’s dumbfounded expression, which only got worse when you winked. “Keep your eye on your phone. I need to think of something to properly thank you later.” When you walked away, Raihan scolded himself for being such a dumbass with words, but also laughed nervously to himself. It was something he did all the time. He didn’t realize that the norm for him would be so significant for you.
The two of you texted back and forth all night, and through that, you had explained to him that, yes, that man was your ex, and yes you hated him, and yes he wasn’t the nicest person on the earth. Raihan tried to figure out ways to get him away from you, with you only laughing and saying that his display earlier might have been just what was needed.
You had asked if he needed anything to properly say as a thank you, and while you were thinking that it would be a material kind of item, Raihan only texted back with “I don’t really need anything right now, but I’d love to get to know you better. Are you free anytime soon?”
And so, while it wasn’t very apparent to the two of you at the time, you started to plan your first date, not realizing that from that point on, something beautiful would blossom with your souls intertwining.
