New office, new home
Hi guys, its been a long time since I was able to write here. Well, what's to blame is my limited access to the Internet in my new work. Yep, I've transferred (again), but this time, I swear, it's really good. And better.
I am now working at NetworkLabs, I think it is an independent Research and Development arm of the Nokia-Siemens Networks aka NSN. Still as a technical writer.
I'm really impressed with this company because though the remuneration package is still something my former employer can still meet, they have a lot of things I don't think money can equate. (Well, if you're just still applying, you'll think that things should still boil down to money -- that was also me -- until I started working for NetworkLabs).
Well on my first day, I got to meet my batchmates (I'll discuss them with you guys on a separate entry). So when we got up, guess what's the first thing we've been given? Above anything else, what they have first entrusted us is a brand new HP laptop -- service unit. Great thing I still have that laptop lock I had when I was still with Globe. Now I don't have to put it inside my locker everytime I have to leave.
With its 500Gb memory capacity, what is a writer still to complain? Oh yeah, since our software request budget is still not approved, also our LCD screens, perhaps only those things. :-) Good thing we still don't have any load as of the moment that would dire need those stuff. (And yes, LCD screens are part of each employee's work stations.) Also, this mean machine is running on an original copy of Windows 7, so we're required NOT to have anything pirated or cracked installed in our laptops.
Yep, that's the actual unit. ^_^ Pretty isn't it? Also that is the built in pin board on the right, and a built in whiteboard on the left.
That's the default wallpaper. You can change it I think as long as it won't be offensive or demeaning to the company's reputation.
A little later, we work told to proceed to Val/Van for our supplies, so we headed down the first floor to fetch them (actually, on our first day, we feel like kindergarten toddlers being given party favors/freebies for making it there hehehe). So after laptop, what do you think we are given now? ^_^
This time, aside from the basic office supplies, such as post its, ball pens and whiteboard markers (for those meeting room tables and built in whiteboards on our work stations), we were also given our laptop bags.
Yep, that's the one.
Also, we were given /our own lockers and mugs. I was not able to take a picture of our lockers (yet - would try to take one perhaps tomorrow), but below is the picture of my mug.
Goo Coaster not included - it's mine. Got it from Me & U I think in Eastwood. ^_^
The next day, they have given us our mobile phone service units. The HR during the hiring was right. With their employee's communication plans, this definitely lessened my communication expenses. I think the package is unlimited call and text, Globe to Globe, plus 300 free text to other networks. Anything beyond that or above that is already to be deducted from the salary - well, except if you'll be able to prove that that extra expense was made our of the operation's requirements.
Yep, that's one one. Nokia X2-01. I don't think it's wifi ready, but come on, who needs wifi when you get to call for free. >:)
Hopefully, I'm to enjoy my stay here. The people are apparently nice, and with stuff like these, it really feels comfy to work and accomplish what is to be done. How I wish that other companies based here would soon be able to keep up with this kind of employee pampering so that their employees would get more motivated. Would post more soon. ^_~
