🦈 Strict but Caring: Just like her father, who used to be in the military, she is very strict when it comes to training. Making sure that the recruits are not just lacking or sitting around. She made sure they DO things. But she is very caring for her comrades. You can say it's called "Tough Love" (learned that from her parents).
🦈 Judgmental: Tiala had a habit of judging people at first glance. Of course, she doesn’t show it when meeting someone during work hours. But OUT of work? She’ll just give you that look. The look that says it all.

Early Life
Tiala Toa was born in American Samoa as the youngest child in a large, military-oriented family. Her surname, Toa, meaning “warrior” in Samoan, reflected a generational tradition of service. Her father had served in the military, and several of her older brothers would follow the same path.
Her strongest bond was with her eldest brother, Hōne Toa, who enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when she was young. Hōne frequently returned home between deployments and became both protector and role model.
On Tiala’s sixteenth birthday, her brother Kanoa delivered the news that Hōne had been killed during a high-risk mission overseas. The loss profoundly affected her. Hōne had promised to return home for her birthday. From that year forward, she rarely celebrated the date.
His death became the defining turning point in her life.
Adolescence and Personal Trauma
During high school, Tiala entered a relationship that gradually became emotionally manipulative and sexually abusive. The situation escalated over time, with threats used to prevent her from speaking out. Only one of her younger brothers, Hemi, witnessed part of the abuse but honored her request to remain silent.
The situation culminated publicly at senior prom when her boyfriend attempted to isolate her from her family. Her brothers intervened, exposing his infidelity and behavior. The confrontation ended the relationship and marked Tiala’s first clear moment of reclaiming control over her life.
Though she rarely speaks about that period, it significantly shaped her guarded personality and her intolerance for predatory behavior.
Enlistment and Early Military Career
Following graduation, Tiala enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at seventeen, alongside two of her brothers. She relocated to Hawai‘i for training and distinguished herself early through discipline, physical endurance, and marksmanship.
Her natural aptitude as a sniper, combined with strong planning instincts, earned her steady promotions. By her early twenties, she had reached the rank of Staff Sergeant — an unusually rapid rise attributed to operational performance and leadership capability.
During this period, she formed close bonds with fellow Marines Staff Sergeant Ela Anand and Master Sergeant Herman Black.
Baja California Incident (2017)
In May 2017, Tiala and her unit were deployed to Baja California to assist in disrupting a human trafficking network operating near the U.S.–Mexico border. The mission resulted in an ambush.
Tiala and several members of her unit were captured.
Over the course of several months, most of the captured Marines were killed. Herman Black was executed. Ela Anand later attempted an escape with Tiala but was fatally shot during the attempt.
Tiala endured prolonged captivity, torture, and severe physical injury, including burn trauma to her right arm and gunshot wounds. She was rescued in October 2017 during a Marine-led operation commanded by her brother Kanoa Toa.
The incident left lasting physical and psychological scars.
Recovery and Reintegration
Following her rescue, Tiala was temporarily discharged for medical and psychological recovery. She displayed acute symptoms of trauma, including withdrawal, hypervigilance, and distress responses around male family members.
Her first breakthrough occurred when her brother Kanoa played a childhood church hymn — “A Pei Se Vaitafe” (“Like a River”) — outside her room. The song had been sung to her by Hōne during childhood. The moment marked the beginning of her gradual reintegration with her family.
By mid-2018, Tiala requested reinstatement to active service.
Warriors Task Force
In 2018, General Alana Kalani authorized the formation of the Warriors Task Force under Captain Kanoa Toa. Tiala accepted the position of Second-in-Command.
Her leadership style became defined by:

Deep protectiveness toward subordinates
Zero tolerance for exploitation or trafficking networks
If you hear the story about Nanaue's father, named Kāmohoaliʻi. That’s where the Shark Monster begins. You see, Nanaue’s father is one of the Hawaiian Mythologies (You can look it up if you want). Their kind were usually hidden and just seen as regular sharks but little did the humans know that they were messing with the most dangerous creatures of the sea.
So yeah, Tiala and her family were like the descendants of Kāmohoaliʻi.
Anyway, Tiala and her siblings were ALL hybrids. Half-shark and Half-human. Since their father is a full shark monster and their mother is a human. And when looking up about Nanaue’s abilities.
Abilities/Powers:
-They have Amphibious Nature (they have gills to breathe on both water and land)
-Claws (they can rip through steel)
-Fangs (Shark teeth that can bite through steel)
-Enhanced sight, hearing and vision
-Regeneration (regenerate some missing limbs)
-Strong skin (which means that their skin is armored from deep and physical attacks)
-Superhuman Speed (can swim fast about 200mph)
-Superhuman Strength (About 100 tons)
-Water Sense (Which means they can sense anything or anyone under water)
WEAKNESS:
Weaknesses? From more research of Nanaue. It says that his biggest weakness is ELECTRICITY.
Not only that, they’re also weakened from Temperature. Only if it’s not under 53 degrees fahrenheit.
And also, even though they can breathe on land, there are limits. They must stay in or regularly return to the ocean to re-oxygenate their blood, which restricts their ability to operate on dry land for long periods of time. For ANY other sea creatures as well. So that’s why the military decided to make a water pack for them to wear in order to work properly on land.
Their kind were also into BLOODLUST (it means ’desire to kill or to see people kill’) or in a Blood Frenzy (means “An irresistible mania for the shedding of blood). I know that's not their weaknesses but it's more like a trigger that they don't want to interact with.
Killing anyone as they please. But Nakoa, Tiala and Kanoa’s father, and his children know better than that. So they did their best to not harm anyone by making sure to not smell or even taste the blood. Then they will be fine…I hope.
APPEARANCE:
This should be easy to describe. Ok, so imagine a full human body. The only parts that they have shark features are on the back, the arms, the neck, the teeth and on their hiney.
For their back, that will be where their first dorsal fins are at.
The arms are just the pectoral fins, one each on the forearms.
The neck, that will be where the gills should be at.
The teeth, the razor, sharp and sharky teeth. Careful, it’s painful when they bite.
They also have webbed feet and hands. I mean they need to swim with it SOMEHOW, right? Lol.
And on their hiney; well not EXACTLY on their hiney. Maybe like between on their lower back and the hiney. Just like Price’s Dragon tail and Soap’s Wolf tail. THAT would be where their shark tail is at.
