In September, 1937, they rode their motorcycles to Washington DC and later visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. The experience was sobering.
In those days, it didn’t take long to get out into the country. The pungent smell of manure mixed with a scent of pine filled the air.
