Keith Garubba Artwork on View at Banana Factory as part of the Lehigh Art Alliance Spring Juried Exhibition
One of 70+ works on view at the Banana Factory’s Crayola Gallery in Southside Bethlehem, Garubba’s work Specious Present was selected for show by jurors Lisa Sylvester and Michael Rossman. The show, which hangs from January 14 - March 11, will have a reception this Friday, February 2nd from 6:00 - 9:00.
Specious Present is a part of Garubba’s Rose Window series of artworks. The piece seeks to present rhythm in its dense horizontal lines of heavily printed string amidst undulating radial patterns derived from original stained glass window designs. Suggestive of time, and an individual’s consciousness within time, the piece’s title literally refers to a human’s perception of the moment that is understood to be the present. With its shapes pushing and pulling, fading and emerging, The artwork is meant to capture some sense of time’s fluidity, and the fugitive moments that can never be concretely held as permanently present.
Come join artist Keith Garubba and other members of the Lehigh Art Alliance at the reception on Friday. Details for the event can be found here.
