              A SHAME, that the position had not been offered sooner. Chapel was efficient, professional, and more than qualified to serve aboard the Enterprise.                             it’s in a rare moment of calm for the medbay that leonard allows himself to relax into one of the waiting area’s chairs, mind numb after hours of catching up on paperwork. he’d been dimly aware of the slow trickle of patients, more so of christine’s deft handling of them and her easy dismissal of ensigns as the shift came to a close. the woman was a bonafide saint.

                                        “ honestly, I don’t even see what you need me for.                            get you some hypos and a red shirt to stick and you’re good to go. ”

Leonard McCoy was a fairly smart man, he knew when he’d lost an argument. This one in particular had been over before it even started. Even so, he’d try and voice his flimsy protests.“We’re short staffed.” The man said bluntly, refusing to put down any of the medical equipment in his hands. “He’ll get through administering antibiotics to the ensigns faster if I’m here to help him.”
