Saturday In The Park (For ladylovedove)
Richard Wellington was at his preferred place for pondering, the park. Here he could have the solace and peace needed for deep, philosophical thinking, all while being surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Well, usually. Sometimes, screaming brats and obnoxious animals could ruin his thinking time, but he could always walk to another section of the park, and then of course, complain to the park's staff. That didn't always work out, but more often than not, simply saying his name was enough to get the offending party removed from the premises.
On this occasion, however, the appearance of a much different sort of person broke Richard's concentration. A woman, and one who was most certainly a cop. Simply spotting her was enough to set his blood on edge. Her intentions seemed innocent, feeding the birds that often pecked him while he was sitting down, but in his mind, he could only think she was assigned to spy on him for whatever reason. The idea baffled him, as he hadn't done anything wrong since getting out of prison, but he could think of no other reason why this officer was in the same park as him. Perhaps they were trying to see if he was breaking parole. Either way, he was filled with dread, and couldn't help but have flashbacks to the last time that he had seen an officer in the park.
He quickly shifted around the tree that he had been previously leaned against, thinking about Nietzsche and Heidegger and other philosophers and how his own philosophies were so much smarter and better, and was soon hiding behind it, taking peeks at the woman to see what she would do next or where she would be going.
