As I walked in, the loud beat of the music shook the room. It was not completely dark, since there were huge cafeteria windows everywhere. Nervous, yet excited. Nervous since most of my friends aren’t going. Also, the cafeteria is huge, so it isnt cramped where you can only see the person next to you. Which means it’ll be über awkward because people can see my fail dance floor moves AND my FACE. Chocolate fountain though. I didnt eat enough of the $15 I paid for the dance. But the experience may be well worth it.
Gianna pushed me, "Say hi to Tony!" "I already did," I said. -10 minutes later-
Tony approached me and said, “Hey. You look really good. You did wear green!” (he said i would look good in green the day before)
I said, “Yeah, hahah, you look great too. Love your bowtie.”
My friends werent the dancing type so jennifer and I were trying to seem like we knew what we were doing by joining the crowds. A circle formed around Muhammad, basically the dancing machine, and Tony was with him as well. At one point, he did have his own solo. He was awesome. Well, of course, he was in Hip Hop B for Stuy Squad. Freshmen usually get HHC. His broken foot hadn't healed, but he was dancing anyway. "Hey. You having fun?" He asked. "Yeah." "Come on, dance! Do something," he said while waving his arms, pumping his fist, y'know those movements that everyone makes at a dance? "I can't. You were great though." "Thanks! I kind of hurt my foot while dancing." "Be careful!" Jennifer and I soon broke out of our shells and started to join the crowd. Gianna wouldnt dance with me so :/ Jennifer and I were dancing, he approached me. "Wanna dance?" Shaking my head 'no' furiously, he took my hand anyway, and lead me to a place where NO ONE WAS THERE. it was the only place where there was light, and no one was crowded around that area. THIS WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE DANCE FLOOR. The whole time I was awkwardly trying to move so that it wasnt awkward. "Sorry I can't." "Nono, you're doing good!" He held both of my hands. Since that was where the lights were, I literally felt like we were in the spotlight. No ONE WAS AROUND US. IT WASNT LIKE THE CROWD GATHERING. It just happened to be empty. No couples or groups were next to us dancing. After a while, I returned back to Jennifer, who was all giddy. It ends at 9. Around 8, the DJ said, "alright guys, its time for the slow dance." My heart rate sped up faster than a cheetah can run. There he was. Without saying a word, he took my hand and lead me away from my friends. "Have you ever done ballroom dancing?" "No," I lied bc I knew I was going to mess up. This was it. My first slow dance. He put his hand around my waist, and I put my hand on his shoulder. It all happened so fast I dont remember if it was him who put my hand on his shoulder. Since the music is so loud, he leaned into my ear and said, "Your dimples are very cute." That was how we communicated the whole time. Our bodies were extremely close. He was looking at me, I could feel his eyes. He was kind of lowering his head to meet my eyes, but I was looking away the whole time. I just couldnt look into his eyes. I did a few times, but I would end up looking away. I was too shy. Our faces were really close so. He would twirl me a few times. It felt... magical. At one point, another guy Andrew stole him from me LOL. And when he was done with him, he came back for me, and while we were dancing, Alec was with his partner, and he was like bumping into Tony intentionally. It was really funny I appreciated it since it made me calm down more. Less awks. While I was with him, his friends were like, "Ooooh Tony," which made me feel even more shy. Just when I was beginning to enjoy it, he said, "wanna dance with your friends?" I didn't say anything, nor did I say yes, but he twirled me and then let my hand go slowly while slightly bowing. Like what they do in movies. This was actually happening. To me. Yeah. It felt magical. I have to say it was really sweet of him. 8:30 hit. Time for me to go. He said, "Do you want me to walk you to the door? I'll walk you to the door." I said, "No," which Jennifer said later to me that it was dumb to say cause I should have said yes. I eventually left the cafeteria doors, and he followed. "Thanks, bye," I said. "I'll walk you to the door, though?" So he was talking about the door of the school. I was like, "no, its okay" "Can I walk you to the door anyway?" "... okay." It was pouring outside HARD. He didnt have his stuff or an umbrella. He walked me to the bridge of the school (we have a bridge that we need to cross in order to get to the entrance of school). "Sorry I cant walk you farther. Hug?" He held his arms open. I hugged him. It was a pretty nice hug. "Bye," we said.
