Firtan - Marter (2022). This album came out in October, but I only recently discovered it. Too late to make my year end list, but if I were to redo it this album would rank near the top. If you have any love for black metal at all, you absolutely must give this one a listen. MerchBar is blowing out this 2xLP vinyl RIGHT NOW for only $13.49, so I had no choice but to buy it even though I already had the CD. Go get one.

Albums of the Week! It was an Alice In Chains marathon for the holidays here, with the Music Bank box set on heavy rotation. Also, Black Sabbath’s Cross Purposes - Live got a lot of love. I maintain that the Tony Martin era is criminally underrated, and I curse all the burnout Ozzy diehards that gave me false warnings about it when I was a young metalhead. ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! I had so many good albums on repeat here that I’m posting a bonus row and column. The winner was #IronMaiden’s Killers. @nightwalk_merch recommended Firtan - Marter to me, and I loved it (German black metal). The new drops from #Ashes and #Aethyrick are excellent (atmo BM). #Eallic’s Karens is a super fun ride (Utah DM). The #BlackSabbath album I thought I’d never like (Seventh Star) somehow earwormed its way into my rotation, and I’m upgrading it to “not half bad” (from “all bad”).
