For just $1300.00 Vintage Set of 4 Jacob and Josef Kohn Bentwood Dining Chairs with beautiful pressed or embossed seats! This set was purchased from the great granddaughter of the original owners who were immigrants to America. They were presented as Italian Bentwoods since that was the great grandparents home of origin. One chair has labels that are still somewhat legible. The writing appears to be Austrian or perhaps Czech. The J & J label is identifiable and the words Chicago are also legible. The company was both manufacturers and importers of Bentwood furniture. This set could have been made as early as 1850, we are not sure. This set is nice shape and appears to have had some restoration or preservation work done in the past or was well cared for. There is wear on the feet area and the underside appears to have had some gluing of the seats at some time in the past.Minor bumps and scratches are present. One seat has a crack as seen in the photos. We have not repaired it but it could have a patch applied underneath if the buyer was concerned. Notice two of the seats are dark and two lighter. The lighter ones had wear and we applied a thin clear coat on the lighter seats to prevent further wear. This is a beautiful set none like we have seen before.
