Hello, spam liker. You get a single(1) fish.
He is not single by choice.
tinfoil barb, scientific name Barbonymus schwanenfeldii
Ok FishBlr, please do what Facebook could not and help me Identify what species / L number I have.
Because I was given this fish for ten bucks and don’t know what species it is. Tank it’s in is technically a quarantine, for now, and that algae is intentional. (Snails). Nitrates never exceed 5 and tank is 5 years old so don’t at me for the condition of the tank. I loathe spotless tanks and prefer an ecosystem. There’s plenty of limpets and copepods in there so water quality speaks for itself.
Anyway, point is, nobody can seem to agree what species or genus this little loriicarid is. Top contenders are L03/4, (clown) L06, (orange seam) a very dark L015, (candy stripe or candy king) LDA025, (pittbull) or some random non-usual species of Ancistrus. (So NOT cirrhosus, which I have 3 of, and none of them ever looked like this). Which Could in theory be L519. (Honeycomb).
You can’t see too well, but there’s mature spines on this 2.5 inch probable male, and there’s a definite margin on the dorsal and caudal fins, which I’ve never seen in L03/4 (clown pleco) before. Any insight? I rescued this dude from a 5 gallon tank with absolutely abysmal water quality and nowhere to hide, previous owner said it was fished out of a “assorted pleco” tank at their local store, so who knows what exactly it is.
I’ve had him 4 days, and he’s adjusting but still obviously a bit stressed. He’s in pretty decent body condition considering where he came from.
Any clues? I really don’t want a carnivore (like L015) because I’ve got shrimps, and I’d like to know what preferences he’s going to have in the future. Right now he’s content to munch biofilm and algae, but I’d like to keep it that way. He’s beautiful, and very VERY pokey. Definitely not a fish to grab with your hands unless you want them shredded by something that feels like fiberglass.
I'm doing a fish ID class, and I just want to share with you all my head empty, no thoughts lungfish drawing.
Does anyone know what kind of fish this cushion star is eating? Some kind of saltwater catfish? My best guess is a hardhead catfish but I really don’t know the marine life in this area. It was big- the sea star was around 15-20 inches in diameter (off the Atlantic coast of Florida)
Fishblr, I need help identifying a fish.
Preface: this fish is a rescue. We just moved into the house and the previous owners left them behind. They're currently in an abysmal ~5 gallon tank. I'm upgrading them ASAP to a 20 as soon as it's cycled. I know it's not ideal, but it's what I have at the moment.
any idea what these guys are? We just got them in at work and i love them.
I’ve tried to post a picture of a fish for two days to see if anyone knows what kind it is and tumblr apparently hates that.
