#fish help

Yea uuuuh there are fish fry in my fish tank. I did not put them there. I do not have fish in the fish tank yet cause i didn't think it was ready. uuuuhhhhhhhh I called the lfs and apparently the turquoise rainbow fish they keep with the plants have been laying eggs and uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh now I have fish?

There are three so far, idk if more will show up. I only have a 20g long and everything online says they need a min 30, So maybe I'll upgrade at a later date? Ordering food for them, according to the lfs they can subsist on the biofilm with the snails but I just want to make sure they eat enough. They are so tiny and clear that I can't take good pictures of them yet, also they keep moving so the pics I do have are very cryptic looking. Also very likely to die but I kinda want to try to help them live, but I'm going to do my best not to get too emotionally attached yet

Aziraphale isn’t feeling good tonight. Cut for pictures, any tumblerians who know about bettas your help would be appreciated. He’s suddenly super bloated, and he was fine this morning. I’m worried it’s the early start of dropsy. Idk if he’s pinecoaning or if I’m just paranoid. I really hope he’s just constipated, as I have been over feeding him a tad. Granted I literally never see him eat. And I didn’t feed him today either. His tank is still cycling so his water parameters aren’t ideal but I’ve been very diligent with my water tests and changes. When I tested tonight ammonia was .25, nitrite was a less than .5 and 0 nitrates. Immediately did a water change. Posted on Reddit too but haven’t gotten a response.

Can’t get a good overhead because of my shifty phone camera but if anyone can tell please let me know.

hey could someone lmk what's going on with this fish's spine? Im 95% sure it's a pearl gourami which normally look like the one on the right. I don't think it's bloated

was drip acclimating some kuhli loaches and one of my bigger platy fry got stuck in the airline tubing.,, that was so scary aaaa i’m so sorry little miss :( she’s alive but like doin kinda rough

(doesn’t help that when she was just kind of recouping my betta just swam up and started chewing on her??? she’s been so randomly aggressive as of late and i wonder if it’s bc of the hot weather)

if anyone has any tips on how to help her out lmk!! i separated her until she could swim again and put a lil stress coat in the tank when i reintroduced her, she seems ok currently but i really want her to make it

Is it possible for a tank to cycle in like a few days? I am cycling a tank rn and it was only set up a few days ago. I added ammonia chloride meant for use in fish tanks and it was at 3ppm that first day (9/9) after all drops were added. Today (9/11) I have tested again and the ammonia down to 1.5ppm, with nitrite at 1ppm, and nitrate at like 10ppm! By all accounts this means it's working, I'm just really surprised at how fast this has happened? I heard 2 weeks at the least. There is some wood and stones in the tank that I purchased/found and appropriately cleaned (boiled) and I used Fluval Stratum for substrate. The filter is an old sponge one that has been used in aquariums in the past, but those were never really cycled properly to my understanding bc of my lack of knowledge at the time, and it's been dried out for like 2 years, so I can't imagine any beneficial bacteria surviving. My concern is just that maybe this is too fast and the levels will be way out of control but I will start testing daily to keep track. I'll be adding 7 more drops of ammonia tonight and see what happens tomorrow, so I'll try to update this post with what I find. Other levels: pH - 7.5, KH - 240, GH ‐ 30ppm (I know the KH/GH are wack I'll be working on it lol). Any ideas/advice/info is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for reading, I know it's a lot.

I’ve got a planaria outbreak

I recently noticed my adult shrimps seemed to be dwindling and there were not as many shrimplets as usual. Just assumed the old stock was dying off from old age. Today I got four new yellow backs and during the water change noticed worms coming out of the gravel and sliding around on the glass. I’ve never had worms before, and was surprised to see them in this tank specifically as I only feed the shrimp a couple times a month, and my levels have been fine.

Reading about getting rid of them is disheartening as it sounds nearly impossible. I think I’m going to try the panacur-c treatment. People online are saying it’s shrimp safe, although I will need to remove the snails. Very dubious that it’ll work. Has anyone tried panacur-c or another successful planarian treatment?

I have 8 male guppies

5 black neon tetras

3 albino corydora

2 male dwarf gouramis

6 shrimp

And a gazillion snails from somewhere idk
