Thought this funky #fishblock would be appropriate for #QuiltrCode episode 8. . . Originally I believed this was the only #Manitoulin quilt square west of Gordon township, but have since discovered at least one more specimen in the Silver Water region. . . According to an article from 1933, this quilt block is believed to have come “from the little fishing villages and seacoast towns of Maine where the livelihood of the inhabitants comes from the sea.” . . The pattern is also considered to show “a great deal of imagination and originality.” . . Apparently it can also be related to biblical imagery, which is not my specially. . . But might explain this blocks relation to it’s location and that whole fishes and loaves thing. . . I was actually delighted to relocate this block, as I first noticed it a few years ago and feared that it may have become lost like many other Island blocks. . . Tune in next week for my #stitchnbitch action! (at Elizabeth Bay Road) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLvTLCPFleK/?igshid=64v0crlj32gc
