Episode 145: The North Star #3 Express Leaving Ueno (Part 2)
The mysterious passenger was actually Shinichi's mom. Mouri is going to put on a deduction show, and he does, but it’s flawed, doesn’t make much sense, and is inconsequent. Conan solves his dad’s trick in the novel, to get rid of the body, and it involves a lot of tape and string, and fishing wire stretched all over the place. Anyway, Conan and his mom set up a trap for the culprit in which she goes and announces to everyone that she saw something in the bedroom before the murder happened, but she can’t remember what it was, but she will soon, which makes her a target for a second murder. On the train platform, Conan loses track of his mom’s position, only to see that she’s across the track with the murderer behind her, with bloody hands. Luckily Yusaku is also there, solves the case, and saves her. Big surprise, it was greasy hair with glasses. He murdered the jewelry guy because he got his girlfriend addicted to drugs. She used to be part of a three person robbery group that happened to steal Yusaku’s novel, and Yusaku was his favorite author. Yusaku tells him that the end of the novel was supposed to be the criminal recognizing his sins and confessing to the police, and that he hopes he’ll do the same. Yukiko says Yusaku is cold, which Conan explains is because they’re in Hokkaido....
