Moi. The fish of kings. A fish that was once exclusively eaten by the Hawaiian Ali'i(royalty). Commoners were not permitted to catch or eat Moi and doing so was a crime punished by death. These elusive fish still remain one of the most desired fish in Hawaii, which also makes them a rare to come across. Not only are these guys a prize catch by humans, but are also a favorite meal for many predator fish such as the Ulua(trevally) which force them to congregate in schools and hide in murky or rough waters. All the more reason as to why I was so stoked to have a clear moment swimming with a healthy school of these "pan puncturing puppies" after a failed attempt to catch a few for dinner. #moi #fishOfKings #ThrowNet #fail #gopro
