Fishtank introduction part 2 of 13.

The one in the middle.

It's a 25l, currently housing a group of Cambarellus diminutus. (Dwarf crayfish?)

I love those little guys, their color range goes from reddish brown, to black and even blue. Wouldn't recommend keeping them with very small fish though, they do try to eat them. Also if they like their tank they'll breed a small army.

If they wouldn't occasionally eat some of the babies they'd breed like cherry shrimp.

I got 4 a few years ago and now, with the ones in this and another tank, I probably have between 20-30. It's hard to tell, the other tank is literally just a block of moss, but I know they are in there. Every few months I sell some.

But they are definetly friendlier to each other than other dwarf crayfish I've kept. I never see any with missing limbs, which can happen if they don't have enough space or hiding places and they start fighting over them.

Fishtank introduction number 7/13.

Halfway there. This time it's the bottom left tank. Another 25l, and it's filled to the brim with Weeping moss.

It's also filled with a unspecified number of dwarf crayfish (Cambarellus diminutus). Now and then I'll fish some out to sell, but I haven't counted them since I put the first pair in. I also buy and add a few new ones every year to prevent too much inbreeding.

They seem to like it in there; there are always babies and I haven't seen ones with missing legs/claws from infighting.

It's definetly not a great to look fishtank, but as long as they like it I'll leave it like that.

Also interesting to see that they built little tunnels and paths in the moss, like ants in earth.

Ok, here I go! First of my fishtank introductions!

So... Part 1 of 13.

It's the biggest of my table fishtanks, the one on the right! (Please ignore all the stuff, I was doing a waterchange.)

It's 60l and currently the only inhabitants are snails. It's also plant storage, lol.

It's going to house a pair of dwarf chichlids, but I haven't decided what kind yet. Maybe some corys too.

But I'm glad the snails are reproducing, even though they are really slow. They've had maybe 5 babies.

You can't really see it on the pictures, but as adults they are big!

All in all not a very exciting fishtank... Yet.

Fishtank introduction number 6/13

The one in the middle. It's a 50l and one of the tanks I redid a few weeks ago. It looked like this:

Yesterday it looked like this before the waterchange, lol. Algae attack in full swing.

After some cleanup and waterchange:

Hoping the plants will grow in soon.

It's home to a small group of Ember/Amber tertras and one male Plakat betta. His name is Raphael, the bottomless pit, cause all he ever does is beg for food. I actually have to pay attention not to feed him too much, unlike Piccolo, who is a slow and deliberate eater.

Shrimp will join them, after I've confirmed that Raphael won't eat them. I'll add some weeping moss too, but right now it would just get consumed by algea. I've made that mistake often enough to know by now.

Fishtank introduction Part 3 of 13

This time the one on the left.

Like the one in the middle it's a 25l.

It's currently home to a single female crown tail betta. Shes so dark I barely see her most of the time. She has a little birth defect on her mouth, so she has trouble eating. It's why I always put the food in the same spot, even if she misses, she knows where it lands.

(Even though I've had her for a year now, I haven't named her yet, I'm open for suggestions)
