What I love about discovering treasures in boxes at antique fairs and car boot sales is also learning about the history of my finds. This carved mother of pearl fish with amazing rainbow luminescence was originally a Chinese gaming token also known as a Jeton. They made it to Europe during the 1700 and 1800’s by adventurous traders and were used in parlour games like whist and ombré. I’ve now upcycled it into the centrepiece of Victorian style necklace complete with sparkly aquamarine connectors made from broken earrings and fish bone style chains. . . . #jeton #assemblagejewelry #motherofpearl #fishtoken #gamingtoken #aquamarinejewellery #piscesnecklace #februarybirthstone #assemblageart #upcycledjewelry #junkjewellery (at Harrowby, Lincolnshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSrkmmZIaBm/?utm_medium=tumblr
