"I FISH UPON A STAR"
An Animated Short Film Idea for Pixar by Elyse Hollander.
Dear Pixar,
This is the story about reaching for the stars, literally and figuratively.
Chubs, an orphan baby Star Fish, looks up at the Stars longing to be reunited with his family in the sky. Living amongst other rag-tag orphan sea animals, Chubs shares his dreams of leaving the Sea .
"Chubs you're just a regular Star Fish, you'll never leave the sea."
"You'll get eaten by Eagles before you reach the sky"
"Or Worse - the Humans will put you on display at Seasquirl"
Despite his friends discouraging words, Chubs can't help but feel that his family is waiting for him up in the night Sky.
One night, Chubs starts glowing in his sleep, and dreams of a plan.
"I'll build a sling shot and shoot myself to the Moon!"
Chubs hoists himself into a home made sling shot, and SNAP - off into the air he flies - higher, and HIGHER - when he suddenly starts to fall back into the Sea.
Just as Chubs is about to lose all hope - he is caught by a mysterious hand, thrown into a bucket, and next thing he knows he handled by a series of different hands under bright lights.
"A Fallen Satellite?"
"It's Glowing?!"
"Alien? Man Made?"
Cut to: Chubs is carried onboard by a team of Astronauts onto a rocket ship - and off into Space he goes!
Chubs is released from the rocket ship amongst millions of twinkling Stars. Chubs slowly spins in zero gravity and proceeds cautiously, nervous from his new surroundings. Suddenly we notice that the once normal looking Stars, start opening their eyes - all the Stars have eyes!
As Million of Stars start to wake up they embrace Chubs.
Chubs starts to shine brighter than he has ever before - he is finally home.
From under the water, all of Chubs friends see a a Pink Star shinning brightly in the night Sky.
