Try deleting the game data (NOT SAVE DATA) and re-installing it. That usually fixes things.

I managed to get my save file open after a few tries (kept freezing/crashing), and it was playing normally after that. I'll definitely keep this in mind though cause it's probably going to happen again.

Friend! Have no fear! The online pass is only used for gaining access to the multiplayer. The season pass is what gets you access to all 3 DLCs, however they can be purchased separately. :)
