@fistsfromhell :: Why are you looking at me like that?

【He wasn’t familiar to the soldier in the slightest. In fact, nothing was. Strange attire, strange style of wearing his hair... But it was his face that had Caim’s attention. He too had— what he assumed was— a brand upon him. What manner of Pact-Beast did this youth have? What was his price? What did he have to lose for power? Hand raised, Caim pointed to the young man’s face to denote the tattoo upon it.】
Ship Bias

Kuja x Zidane-
I have a thing for problematic ships that aren’t going to end up happy... And the good old hero x villain cliche ship type really hits the spot for me. But with Zidane and Kuja, the problematic bit gets amped up to 11... And admittedly the longtime ship I have with @zinidyne-zidane has coloured my bias for this ship a lot.
Kuja’s deep seeded, bitter resentment / envy toward Zidane is really intense. Too intense, at least for the amount of time they’ve actually spent talking to one another, and I believe that’s owed in part to the fact he hasn’t actually felt much for anyone before. He has no personal connection to anyone else-- besides Garland, who he despises for properly justifiable reasons. With Zidane, that hatred is entirely based on his own narrative of events and his flimsy self image.
So putting them together in circumstances where Kuja actually grows fond of Zidane despite himself (like in our main storyline) only adds to the chaos of his obsession toward him-- He doesn’t suddenly stop despising Zidane for being his intended replacement, just because of some positive emotions cropping up in his company. Kuja’s too childish to reconcile in that way, he clings to grudges like a crux. He’d rather get rid of the positive emotions all together, because they’re just making the grudge he holds more painful. He wants to kiss him, but he also wants to kill all his friends to see the anguish on his face. Then maybe stab him. For fun.
It’s like mixing two volatile chemicals together, it makes a huge mess.
Anyway, it’s a really interesting dynamic to explore and that’s why I like writing it so much. I hope it makes a little sense.

“Tell us your names. Do not be frightened, humans. Our conversation will only take a moment.“
@fistsfromhell said: “we always walked a very thin line.”
“ that’s a generous definition. ” since they were kids, zell had been an easy target. he never fought back. not once. until ... well, seifer didn’t make a habit of thinking about the time that the other had landed him in the infirmary for what had felt like an eternity. so he wouldn’t call their relationship even the slightest bit amicable. more like seifer trying his damndest to get a reaction out of him, maybe somewhat hoping he’d stop being so easy to rile up for half a second before absolutely reveling in the result ( when it didn’t land him in the infirmary ). if the line was there, they’d crossed over to one side long ago.
“ call it like it is, dincht --- we ain’t ever been civil ‘til now, and you know why that is. ”
(x) Talk to Rinoa | @fistsfromhell
【☆】— "No kidding. You'd think there would be signs or something to prevent travelers from taking a wrong turn and getting lost down here. And...why is it deserted? It looks like this town was bustling right before everyone just up and left..." Dark eyes avert downwards, scaling every inch of the map, up and down, side to side---only to excitedly exclaim: "Hey, Zell, look at this!" Stopping abruptly, Rinoa tilts the map towards her comrade with a finger circling an unmarked mass---the area they could have possibly been treading. "Don't you think its odd? Everything else is labeled---even the large boulders in the mountains. Why is this particular patch of land unmarked?" She could only speculate the cause, her thoughts immediately on Galbadia's government having had a hand in covering something up somewhere in the past.
Though, of course, it was only a theory.
And yet...
