also ok I'm SO close to just listing off every Endeavour wip you might have BUT i'm especially intrigued by Wyoming (you know me, I'm a one-trick pony xD) and Jarse hair as well!!
Thank you so much for giving me so much opportunity to talk about all my (stalled) projects, I love it :D
You guessed correctly that Wyoming may possibly be about one Peter Jakes. Jakes calls Morse, unhappy in Wyoming, and they become phone pals - and then Morse goes out to visit him. What I've got written for this is pretty thin, so I don't know if I'll ever flesh it out into a full story, but here's an excerpt:
“Hope was… a wild child, in Oxford. It’s what I liked about her. No respect for the rules.” He catches Morse’s look and laughs. “Not like that, not the big ones. But the shoulds and should nots. You know, curfew. Sex before marriage,” he says sheepishly.
Morse nods. “And when she came home, she wasn't?”
“No, she was.” He sighs. “I thought… I loved that, I did, but I thought a kid, marriage. It changes things, doesn’t it?”
“Usually.”
“She was… is, a free love kind of person. She wasn’t exclusive in Oxford, but neither was I, you know that. Marie, Lilian, Janie.” Morse nods, although in actual fact he never paid that much attention to Peter’s stories, certainly not enough to remember names years later. “She says we have an open marriage.”
Morse swallows, hard. “Is that, uh-”
“To put it into language you speak, Morse, it means she’s out cuckolding me a couple of times a month.” He spits the words, but keeps himself angled towards Morse, betraying that there’s no anger directed his way. He laughs, bitterly. “‘Course, I’m free to do the same. Just don’t have quite the network she does having lived here her whole life.”
Jarse hair is even scanter, I'm sure there was a full idea once but turns out now it's only 222 words actually written down! I think my idea was Morse associating haircuts with going into prison, so when he comes out he avoids going to the barber and Jakes eventually does it for him, because it's about the TRUST.
“It’s not rocket science. You might not end up on any catwalks, but I can take you out of the running for shaggiest policeman.”
