My Final Thoughts on 5x08 (taken from Shattering’s latest A/N...)

5x08 was good to me. I am not mad at The Creator or her enablers this week. I got sense in the overall SCANDAL-verse (mostly...) and Olitz didn’t break up so I’m happy.  I enjoyed Liv finally seeing and calling Joke out for the little Lifetime Movie Hero Game spitting, Pressed bitch baby he is. I enjoyed seeing Eli/Rowan scared out of his mind and chasing his own tail. I enjoyed the endlessly Pressed Cyrus and the defending Abby. I enjoyed the very small amount of Mellie we got. I enjoyed OPA and Marcus doing the damn thing. I enjoyed Susan Ross and y’all know I dug the all United Olitz we got to see, especially the State Dinner scene. Most of all...

I AM HERE FOR FITZ BEING CRAY. I AM SO FUCKING HERE FOR FITZ BEING CRAY AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, GET OUT AND DON’T YOU SLAM MY SCREEN DOOR BEHIND YOU. I know that there’s a split in the fandom (what the hell else is new?) about 5x08 Fitz but I dig him. The man has been through hell and back and hell again and he’s always held it together. He’s never gotten to really lose his shit. Everybody else gets to lose their shit and Fitz has to hold it together and take it dry? Unh-unh. No. It is his turn. He is long overdue and Liv’s latest stunt, no matter how well intentioned it was (and I believe it was well intentioned. I will give Liv the benefit of the doubt to the grave!) was just too damned much. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back and set the whole farm on fire. I’m surprised that Fitz hasn’t snapped sooner, honestly. 

I expected the return of post Defiance FitzVader. I was waiting for it and after that Scene in the Pentagon, that goddamned Scene where Liv finally told him the truth that ripped everybody’s heart out and stomped on it (which I still want the audio for!), I was just waiting for him to tell Liv to get out and never come back. And so was Liv. She knew that she fucked up. She knew in her bones that she fucked up and was so sad about it (that Scene with Abby, man...that bedroom scene, man...) but he didn’t. He didn’t. FitzVader is back but he is not after Liv. He did not kick her out and HE DID NOT TAKE HER PRISONER! I REPEAT: OLIVIA IS NOT A PRISONER IN THE DAMNED WHITE HOUSE! SHE CAN LEAVE ANYTIME SHE DAMNED WELL PLEASES. THE ONLY SHACKLES (I’m still side eyeing Yahoo TV for that quip) THAT LIV HAS ON ARE IN HER OWN HEAD! 

He is taking control of the situation. He moved her in, not just because he loves her and wants to protect her from impending doom but also because he wants to keep a closer eye on her.  He loves her and he still respects her but he doesn’t trust her not to do anything else shady to screw him and them over so he’s taking the goddamned wheel. He’s not delegating it to Joke or some other sucker, anymore. He’s Handling Liv and her ways himself and I’m here for it. 

Now, that being said, if Fitz goes full on Misery or Kiss the Girls on her, Liv should run like hell and not look back. I’m here for Cray Fitz but if he gets malicious like Joke, she’s gotta get out of there pronto. But, I don’t think he’ll get malicious. I don’t think it’s in his nature for him to get malicious. The Creator better fucking not make in his nature to be malicious! There will hell to pay if she does! Is it Thursday, yet? Thursday needs to bring its ass on!

What really made Fitz so hurt/mad about Defiance was that other people told him. LIV NEEDS TO TELL. #Scandal. Either way, he'll be mad and she'll be out but her telling him before Mellie/Rowan can would be a sign of good character growth. #Scandal.

Okay, then. If tonight's a bust and next week's a bust, 5x06 has the potential to be most awesome. #Scandal #TGIT

We may very well see a Rambo Fitz to go with FitzVader in these next couple of episodes. The Admiral mentioned in recent interviews that Fitz is willing to do whatever it takes to get his Livvie back. 'Whatever it takes'means that anything can happen. I know that in Shondaland 'anything can happen' usually turns out to be a bad thing but a girl can dream, can't she?
