Part One
It had been completely silent since you’ve gotten in the car. Danny was simply radiating anger and frustration. At this moment, you thought it best to give him at least a few minutes, to cool off. It wasn’t hard considering the island was just filled with beauty, besides the gorgeous man driving one of your best friend’s car, “Danno,” you said in your sweet voice.
You knew your voice had a way of calming Danny down, “Yes, Y/N?”
His voice immediately softened, looking back at you with this face of care, “If this is your car, why is Steve driving it?”
Clearly you couldn’t wait very long to tease him more. The smile dropped from his face and turned into a frown as soon as Steve snorted, “Because this animal has control issues,” he slapped Steve’s arm.
“Control issues,” Steve questioned, “Why do you have to make up such lies in front of a lady?”
“What,” Danny turned to Steve, his face getting red, and voice rising, “First, she is no lady, she could out man any male. And second, lies – if I’m not lying, then why do you always have to drive my car? How do you explain that?”
Steve’s hands left the steering wheel, “Is it wrong for me to spoil a friend, I’m chauffeuring you around. I want you to feel special.”
“Well, that’s just hogwash,” Danny said to Steve, “Keep your hands on the wheel, you idiot.”
You slapped Danny’s arm, “Hey, you apologize to your partner. Say two nice things!”
Shaking his head, tapping his hand on the dash, “Not that, Y/N, I’m not doing that, I’m not a child.”
“Daniel Williams,” you say with a stern, slow voice, “Say two nice things. Now.”
He looked back at you, while Steve watched in amazement at this phenomenon. Rolling his eyes, “Fine,” he did this long stare at Steve. He took a deep breathe and waited a moment to think of something nice. You kicked his chair, “Steve, you’re very kind for not trying to get me killed daily, though sometimes you don’t try hard enough. And you aren’t terrible to my kids.”
“Wow, Danny, that’s awfully nice of you,” Steve looked at him, “Had to dig real deep for those,” he mocked him. He looked back at you, “Two nice things, huh?”
You shrug, “Yeah, words are can be harmful, Danno knows that.”
He nodded his head, laughing a little. Danny just shook his head, trying to calm himself down again.
Pulling up to Steve’s, you bounded out before Danny could move out of the way, his chest smashing to the dash as the seat moved up, “No, Y/N, please you first.”
You spun, kissing him on the cheek, “Love you Danno,” you squeeze him, as he tries to get out of the vehicle, “Thanks for letting me stay with you.”
Steve steps out and watches over Danny’s car. He was in total amazement of your effect on Danny Williams. As soon as you hugged him, Danny’s disposition changed completely. The banter, the teasing, it didn’t matter. Danny Williams turned into complete mush, “Doll, you know I love having you,” he pulled you back to look at you, “Now, come on, this guy over here promised us some barbecue and beer.”
You got to meet everyone associated with the task force you’ve heard so much about. And everyone was so welcoming, it was like nothing you ever felt – instant family. The William’s knew your mother, which is why Matthew and you were close, you played together as children. Over time, they grew to be your only family. Here it was quick, you patted Kono on the arm, “I’m going to grab another beer,” she nodded at you.
You made your way closer to the house, reaching for the cooler. Steve beat you to it, “For you,” he passed it to you.
“Thanks commander,” you grabbed the beer.
“Steve, please,” he waved you off, walking around the cooler to lean against a tree. He was staring down at you smirking, “How’d you convince Danny it was safe to leave you here? He left muttering threats to me.”
You laugh, “It was a combination of the kids pleading to see me and the protection of Eric,” you wave to his nephew in the distance, who was staring at you like you were food, “Lucky for Eric, Danno doesn’t know Eric has had the biggest crush on me for years.”
“I’m not surprised, a beautiful, funny, intelligent woman like yourself,” he watched your reaction as he said this, “Poor boy didn’t stand a chance against your charm.” Blush creeps all over your face and you grow quiet, laughing nervously and looking towards the group of people, “Look at this,” he stood straight to look at you, “This whole flirty thing, it’s a rouse just to get under Danno’s skin,” he chuckled, “I’m shocked.”
“What, I’m a shy kid from Jersey,” looking down at the sand, “Said no one ever,” you laugh again. “If I’m being honest, I don’t really have experience with flirting for my own benefit. Danny let me have one boyfriend for about three weeks. Other than that, flirting is just another way to bother my protective big brother.”
Laughing at the statement, Steve nods, “Your relationship with Danny is not like one I’ve ever seen. Not even with his own sisters or Gracie does he turn into this mushy guy. You have that man wrapped around your finger.”
You shrug, sipping your beer, “I don’t really have family, so he takes pity on me.”
“I think it’s more than that,” he comments.
“Puh-lease, Danno Williams does not have a crush on me. That’d be weird,” you shake your head, “Hell is more likely to freeze over with flying pigs flapping around.” You sigh, scratching the back of your neck, “After my mom disappeared, I didn’t have anyone, but the Williams’. Matty saw me as a convenience, someone no matter what he said or did would be there for him, again and again. My kindness and naivety were often taken advantage of with Danny’s little brother. And now, I have no one but him, he sees that.”
“Is that, that psychology degree of yours,” he grinned down at you. He admired how you could talk about your past with such lightheartedness and with barely knowing him. It meant you felt at home.
“Yes, sir,” you smile. Something grabs your attention from the door, you know Danny is here with the kids closing in on you. You wink at McGarrett, “No, it’s amazing. It’s called the pray mantis because the girl has to bend her leg,” Steve’s eyebrows shot up, instantly intrigued and amused.
]“Hey-o,” Danny yelled, covering his daughter’s ears, “Y/N, the mouth around the children.”
He tried to drag Gracie away, “Danno, Auntie Y/N,” she whined trying to get back to you.
“No, Auntie Y/N needs a timeout,” Danny looked back at you.
Steve raised his hand, “You know partner, I’m happy to-,” he started to smile with a shit eating grin.
“Don’t,” Danny yelled back, “Steve,” he growled, his voice lowering, “Don’t finish that sentence, if you care about your life.”
You laugh with Steve at the very red Danny, “That’s alright Danno, I have a long time to catch up with Auntie Y/N.”
“Excuse me,” he looked down at his daughter, “What do you mean?”
“She just got a job at the University of Hawaii,” both Danny and Steve shot you an expression.
Chugging your beer, “Gosh, the sun is setting. Gracie, let’s get Charlie and watch it, huh,” you grip her shoulder, steering her in the direction of the water, “Girl you outed me to your dad,” Gracie whispered a sorry before you both quickly ran away.
Danny just watched in amazement, “I’m not sure what to feel, happy or ambushed?”
“I know what I feel,” Steve looked at his partner, he was going to love using this to tease his partner more, “I think I’m in-.”
Pointing up at his partner, “Don’t say another word, you, overgrown cartoon character.”
Eric strolled up, putting his arm around Danny, “What a beauty,” he said looking at you. Danny tossed his arm down, “McGarrett, you are one lucky son of a gun. That sexual tension between you and Y/N, I mean,” he whistled, “If I was you,” he tried to continue, “I’d-.”
Danny growled loudly, tossing his hands in the air, “She’ll be the death of me,” he stomped inside.
You looked back, smiling at Steve. He realized he had to go cool off his partner, reason with him about his ‘little sister’ playing games on him, and why Danny should be happy to have her on the island. He stopped after taking a step in the direction of Danny, “She paid you to say that,” he asked Eric, “Didn’t she?”
“Twenty bucks,” he smiled at Steve, “For her though, I would have done it for free,” he smiled, glancing at his pacing uncle.
Again, Steve looked back at you playing with Danny’s kids and Jerry joining the gang in the sand. He had a feeling you would be a good thing for this island.

Danny’s phone rang, he looked up to Steve, who was driving, and tried to decide whether he should answer it in front of him or not, “Hey Doll, why are you calling so early, your flight isn’t supposed to arrive until tonight.”
He glanced up to the very curious Steve McGarrett, who was trying to figure out who his partner was talking to. Steve didn’t know someone was flying in to see Danno, “Who’s on the phone?” Danny continued to talk to you and ignore his partner, “Hey, who you talking to?”
Slapping his hand away, “Can’t you see I’m on the phone. You see this object I am talking into – it works like one of those tin cans you use to talk into, you know to another person,” he pointed to the phone, “I’m talking to someone, you animal.”
“Alright, alright,” he put his hands up defensively.
“I’ll be there in twenty minutes, just hold tight,” Danny said to you over the phone. He hung up looking over to an innocent, but nosey Steve, “Can you please start making your way to the airport?”
“The airport, are we expecting company,” Steve asked, acting clueless.
Shaking his head, passively laughing, “We? We aren’t expecting anything. I have family flying in from Jersey. They found an earlier flight out of the blue and they just landed. I don’t have time to drop you off and drive my car to get her – so here we are,” Danny explained, emphasizing on the my car part.
“Her, family – Daniel,” Steve looked over to his partner, prying some more, “Why would you not tell us, your family in Hawaii, that you had another family coming in.”
Frustrated, “She was my brother’s best friend from home, okay,” he yelled, “She’s like my little sister and it’s been hard on her recently with missing Matty. So she is coming to stay awhile.”
They arrived at the airport, “Why haven’t you ever mentioned her,” Steve ask, “This Y/N?”
“Grace has,” he said, looking around the crowd, “Remember that story about the aquarium and the boy picking on her.”
“She’s the fish tank girl,” he asked shocked.
“Yeah,” he grumbled, “Y/N is the fish tank girl.”
You were walking around aimlessly, trying to catch sight of that helmet of blonde hair, “Danny,” you screamed over the crowd, dropping your suitcase, and pulling him into the tightest hug, “It’s so good to see you.” Steve eyed you up, instantly intrigued by your high waisted jean shorts and belly shirt. Pulling away, you look at the man watching the both of you, “Tall, dark, bruiting, troublemaker spirit, and a smirk – you must be Steve, I’m Y/N.”
“Fish tank girl,” Danny pointed to her.
Shrugging at the memory, “Not my finest moment,” you said, half laughing.
Steve grinned at you, gripping your hand tightly to shake, “Nice to meet you. I hope you don’t believe a thing that comes out of this man’s mouth.”
“Daniel,” you point to him, who was pulling your suitcase along with him to the walk to the car, “Never, Jersey people, we like to embellish with dramatics.”
“Aye,” he pushed you gently, “You’re lucky you’re grown up or I’d be shoving you in a closet.”
Steve opened the door for you letting you climb in the back. Danny shoved Steve and started to banter about Steve’s unnecessary flirting with his practically little sister. Danny put your luggage away, “So Y/N, what do you do in Jersey?
“Oh, I’m a sex therapist mostly,” you shot out, looking at the environment around you.
Steve was trying to get some water, nearly spitting it out in Danny’s car. “Y/N,” Danny yelled, “That’s not true, Steve – she is a professor.”
Steve coughed, “Sex therapist – what does that entail,” staring straight at Danny, smirking. Out of your line of sight, Danny motioned for Steve not to start, glaring at him.
“Oh you know,” I said watching the beauty of island past by the window, sneaking a peak at Steve, “I deal with people who have issues with intimacy, fetishes, dysfunctions – the usually, maybe even a tip or two.”
Nodding his head, he looked at you through his mirror, “So you’re an expert.”
“Seven years of education would say yes, I am an expert,” I smile, I knew what he was doing.
“Stop it,” Danny pinched Steve, “Y/N here has a Ph.D. in personality psychology and we are very proud of her.”
“Thank you Danno.”
Eventually you ended up and Danny’s house, Steve grabbing your bag from the back. You walked into the front yard, you couldn’t get over the beauty of this place, “Steve, if you try to hit on her one more time, I’ll break your Navy Seal face.”
“Commander,” you called to him, “You’re considered a local right,” you ask.
He nodded, watching you curiously, “Yeah, grew up here.”
“Want to show me around,” Danny looked between the both of you shocked, “In exchange, maybe I’ll give you some tips,” you grin, watching Danny’s expression.
Steve didn’t know what to say, “I don’t think I need any tips in that department, but I’m happy to show you all around the island. Hope you packed a bikini,” he caught what you were doing.
“Hey,” he yelled, “I’m standing right here. You don’t need this animal to see the island, that’s why you have big brother Danny,” he continued to increase his volume, “Plus, you’ll most likely get shot at and I don’t need that. Now get your purse and walk inside the house.”
“Same old Danno,” you grin, picking up your bag and walking inside the house, “Bye Commander,” you wink at him.
Steve walked next to Danny, “I like her.”
“I’m going to punch you in the mouth,” he said to his partner, “She is only saying those things to get a rise out of me.”
“And yet it is working,” he made fun of his partner.
Stabbing Steve with his finger, “Don’t even breathe in her direction, she is off limits you, Neanderthal.”
“I’m ready for the beach,” you skip out in a bikini and sunglasses. You missed playing games on Danny like this, it felt right. And you missed it more than anything - so you couldn’t stop, even if you were pushing Danny’s limits.
Danny looked at you in awe, Steve check you out, nodding his head in approval, “You know, I have the best beach at my house. Danno,” he touched his partner’s shoulder, “Grab some swim trunks, we’ll barbeque there. I’ll call Chin, Kono, and Grover – it’ll be a family gathering.”
“No,” Danny yelled, “No – put a shirt on.”
“Too late,” Steve answered looking at his phone, “Everyone’s headed over to my place – they can’t wait to meet your Sex Therapist sister,” he grinned, motioning you to his car, “Come on beautiful, your chariot awaits, welcome to paradise.”
Meeting his eyes as you make your way into the car, enjoying Danny’s anger, “I’m glad to see chivalry isn’t dead, thank you sir,” you turn around and wink at Danny, who you had to have steam coming out of his ears. This was going to be an exceedingly fun vacation and Steve McGarrett was the key.
On December 16th, 1991, Howard and Maria Stark are assassinated. Anthony Edward Stark, their only son, becomes the heir to the Stark fortune and the company.
With no living relatives left, Tony leaves the company in the capable hands of one Obadiah Stane and follows his only family member – James Rhodes – into the service. (James has bee his brother since MIT, the only person who stood up for the young genius, offered him a home for the holidays, and made sure he was never alone when he needed it.)
At the age of 21, Tony signs up for the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer on the Nuclear track. He’s a certified genius, so he could have chosen to work as a Nuclear Engineer, but he thought ships were the way to go. He could do shore duty after the fact.
For his first sea tour, Tony is stationed on the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt where he’s in command of a bunch of nuclear operators. It’s decent enough. After that, he’s off to Naval Nuclear Power School where he’s capable of teaching his classes in the second week. (It’s really not that hard, guys.) After that, it’s off to Prototype where he’s fixed half the training equipment they’re learning about and half his class hates him.
Oh well. It gets him a promotion.
For his second sea tour, Tony is stationed aboard the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman for her maiden voyage. He rises to the rank of Commander quickly and relatively efficiently, by being superb at his job and making sure his sailors are too. He’s a crowd favorite on the Truman - both for his extensive knowledge and his quick wit.
(He could have been a Captain but he always did like getting his hands dirty - and Admirals didn’t like being given offensive nicknames. How was he supposed to know?)
He should have known that having a team of SEALs aboard his vessel was bad news.
Long story short, he stops a French power plant from melting down with the help of Steve McGarrett and his outfit when a group of extremists try to manually detonate the reactor like a bomb. There may or may not be some ordering around that occurs given that Tony outranks one McGarrett, but he gets over it (Tony thinks).
After France, they go their separate ways and Tony thinks that’s the last he’ll hear from Steve.
Until he’s on shore assignment in Hawaii overseeing work on the new Ford-class nuclear supercarrier and Steve McGarrett asks him to transfer to the Reserves.
Well. Guess he’s Five-0 then.

My office is falling apart. ADT security left a voice mail for me (I didn’t hear the phone ring) to let me know that my company’s burglar alarm triggered and that police officers have been dispatched to the scene. This was at 5:15 so I immediately called the office thinking someone would be there…and indeed they were. The person who answered the phone was in our warehouse when the coworker who normally locks up decided to leave. I guess that coworker didn’t see the other person’s car in the parking lot or something. So that makes it two visits for the cops. This time they were quicker though!
