On Sunday, December 14, Carolyne and I took a bus from Berlin to Prague. In Prague, it costs so much to take a taxi from one location to another that the drivers are often called “robbers”. To avoid this, we decided to take public transportation from the bus station to the hostel. After about a 30-minute ride on the metro, we arrived to the general area of the hostel… this was when the problems started. With no map and no Wi-Fi (or data service) to check our location, we spent another 30 to 45 minutes walking up and down almost every street that was near the metro stop. Eventually, we found the correct street and found the hostel.
I don’t even know why they call it a hostel because it’s pretty much like a hotel. It was a little pricey, but that’s okay because it was very comfortable. There was this weird frosted window that let anyone in the bedroom (kind-of) see the shower… Other than that, the room was very comfortable. The hostel also had a bar/restaurant and a club. Those were both very entertaining too!
On Monday, we took a 3-hour walking tour in the morning of the city. It was absolutely gorgeous. Before we even started the tour we had a lovely breakfast at a nice café down the street from our hostel. I had a nice gingerbread latte and strawberry tart. They were both verrrrryyyy tastyyyy! The walking tour of the city was absolutely marvelous. The best part about it was that I feel like I got to see everything I wanted. We were only in Prague for less than 48 hours, so it was the perfect way to see all of the main attractions. I took plenty of pictures and you can see them below. I got to see the Old Town, the New Town, as well as other historic areas. The tour guide was very helpful and gave us some very interesting information about everything we were seeing. There was also a statue of a naked pregnant woman… you can see the video of that below too. Long-story-short, you can climb up into her uterus and be “reborn”… as aforementioned, check out the video!
After the walking tour of the city we went on a tour of the Prague Castle. I’ll make a posting about that next!
