Trivia Entry #1
Not every Ravio has a Sheerow, but several do. They bear very little resemblance to each other.
Empyrean’s is his wyvern-loftwing.
The loftwings here are inspired by the Lorulean weathervanes in ALBW.
The standard loftwing has fur lining its back, a pair of horns on its head, and a feathered tail; Empyrean’s is the only one to have a red underbelly and violet scales.
Sketch’s is the little blue and white bird we all know and love.
May be hiding some secret magical abilities.
Warp’s is a little machine that he built.
Like all of Warp’s gadgets, this one has its own set of knit accessories– a hat, a beak warmer, and a scarf (the favorite, and matches Warp’s own).
Has several abilities that will be covered at a later date.
Shade’s is one of the Twilit Kargaroks that fly around the Twilight Realm.
It likes to sing! It’s song sounds like trumpet music, and Shade gets to wake up to that cacophonous mess every day.
Compass’ is a parrot that stays with his sister once he’s traveling with the other Ravios.
Loud, just like Compass. May or may not have aided in distractions and other schemes.
Trivia Entry #4
Years after Allure’s defeat and Skyloft’s subsequent return to the surface, Empyrean and Comet had two children: Aurora, their daughter, who they fondly nicknamed Starlight; and Aster, their son, who they also nicknamed Meteor.
The Legend of Hilda: Fivefold Flame
The Silent Realms
After they parted ways, Empyrean returned to the keeper of the sealed temple in order to ask if she knew anything about the demon named Allure, only to learn that he had once served a demon king who had been banished to another realm by the goddess Lorelle many years prior. It became clear that Allure was plotting bring his king back from whatever place he had been sent, and that he planned to use Hilda in order to do so.
The keeper also warned him, however, that he would not be strong enough to defeat Allure as he was. She told him that he had to unlock the true power of the Goddess Rod that he carried, and Psi elaborated that he had to find certain areas of sacred magic, where he would be tested by the goddesses and granted further power if he succeeded.
These places, which Psi referred to as Silent Realms when Empyrean entered them, were places where he appeared without any of his equipment - or even the Sovereign Rod. Psi warned him that he must defeat the guardian of the Silent Realm without being struck by any guardian within the Silent Realm, lest he restart his trial from the beginning, and assured him that she would be watching over his body in the physical realm.
The Silent Realm trials were as follows:
Pavhalla’s Silent Realm
Located in the Vhallas region, the jungle concealed a guardian with the ability to create illusions.
In order to defeat this guardian, Empyrean needed to improvise any weapon from what he could find in his surroundings, as well as figure out a means of determining the guardian’s whereabouts.
Upon his victory, he was granted the use of wind magic.
Mun’s Silent Realm
Located in the Temun region, a wraith-like guardian stalked the shadows of the ice caves.
Empyrean figured out that the guardian was weak to light, and managed to maneuver mirror-smooth sheets of ice in order to redirect light from the mouth of the cave in order to trap and ultimately defeat it.
Upon his victory, he was granted the use of fire magic.
Klino’s Silent Realm
Located in the remains of the oil factory, a massive titan of a guardian rose from the eroded stone.
In order to defeat this guardian, Empyrean needed to take advantage of a freezing agent that still flowed through old pipes as well as the flammable oil that was naturally produced by the swamp.
Upon his victory, he was granted the use of ice magic.
The Goddess’ Silent Realm
Located on the island of Skyloft, this Silent Realm challenged Empyrean to face three guardians at once.
One was large, nearly twice Empyrean’s height, which carried an accordingly large and heavy weapon and would storm directly toward Empyrean if it caught sight of him.
One was smaller, lying in wait for him and attempting to catch him by surprise from above or behind, but would make a bell-like sound just before it attacked. This sound would also attract the attention of the other two guardians.
One was medium-sized, but often remained far away in high, hidden spots, where it could attempt to snipe Empyrean from a distance.
Empyrean needed to use stealth and strategy in order to defeat all three of these guardians.
Upon his victory, he was granted use of lightning magic.
After passing all of these trials, the Goddess Rod’s power was fully awakened, and it became known as the Sovereign Rod.
Trivia Entry #2
Empyrean loves to believe that he doesn’t share the same chaotic tendencies as certain other incarnations of the hero’s spirit, but the truth is that he’s equally – if not more – destructive as they are. Some of his transgressions include, but are certainly not limited to:
The complete and utter desolation of the oil factory in Arklina, via a lot of fire, a lot of explosions, and a lot of incoherent yelling. The lingering spirits in the region extremely disapproved of this.
Sinking an entire pirate ship, also in Arklina, and also probably including a lot of explosions. This did nothing to improve his standing with the ghosts.
Not exactly destructively chaotic, but not knowing how to kill Allure, Empyrean tried bashing him over the head with the Sovereign Rod. As you might expect, this did not work out as much as he was hoping it would.
A colossus guardian was his third trial in the Silent Realms (think Gaius from Shadow of the Colossus big); his solution was to blow its limbs up to bring it down.
The man invented actual Lorulean molotov cocktails for the express purpose of setting fires and exploding things.
The Legend of Hilda: Fivefold Flame
Prologue
On the floating island of Skyloft, many young adults trained to become knights, and Empyrean was no different.
Despite the threat of monsters not being much of an issue on its own - a fortunate side effect of overpopulation limiting space on the island, along with the loftwings that would dine on certain species - the populace above the clouds suffered from frequent internal conflict. It was the responsibility of knights-in-training to resolve or otherwise break up these conflicts, while the fully-fledged knights scoured the skies, seeking any source of land to relocate the people.
Approximately a month before the Wing Ceremony in which Empyrean would earn his knighthood, knights and citizens alike began to see mirages of land within the cloud barrier that spread beneath Skyloft. Hilda, daughter of the academy’s headmaster, believed that this could be the solution to the city’s crowding problem, and so set her sights on investigating below the skies. In preparation, she made two sailcloths - one for herself and one for Empyrean, who she likely planned to bring to the surface with her whether he passed the test or not.
On the day that she presented the sailcloth to him, she told him of her plan to descend below the clouds, which Empyrean was initially skeptical of. However, due to both the possibility that perhaps there was more land down there that could solve the overpopulation issue, and that Hilda might get herself into severe danger if she went by herself, Empyrean ultimately decided to accompany her.
That following night - still hours before their departure - Empyrean followed a spirit girl to the Isle of the Goddess, where he entered a hidden temple beneath the statue and found the Goddess Rod. He’d stowed it inside his magic adventurer’s bag, and having triple-checked it for everything he needed before going to bed, he didn’t bother to look through it a fourth time come morning. With no physical proof of the divine rod after waking, he was able to dismiss the night’s events as a simple dream, allowing him to instead focus solely on the daunting task to come.
The Legend of Hilda: Fivefold Flame
The Surface
As Hilda and Empyrean fell through the cloud barrier, a twister suddenly appeared, separating the two sky children and leaving them to fall in different areas on the surface. Empyrean found himself falling into the sealed grounds in what he would soon learn was the Vhallas Region, whereas Hilda fell somewhere deep within the jungle. It is here that Empyrean met the keeper of the temple, learning that not only were there inhabitants of the surface, but also that he was in fact carrying a magic rod with a spirit living inside of it.
His primary goal at this point was to find Hilda and ensure her safety, which was aided by the spirit, Psi, who helped him determine which direction she was in. Hilda, however, always managed to outpace him- even when she was passing through temples with complex puzzles.
The regions that Empyrean traveled through included:
Vhallas
The Vhallas Jungle, inhabited by green, snakelike creatures called Servins, who camouflage themselves as vines. When threatened, they bite their perceived attacker and inject them with venom.
Arboria Lake, inhabited by the Kelonas, which are snapping turtle-like creatures who defend the lake from anyone who comes too close to their home.
Temun
The Mountain of Mun exterior, which was covered in snow and ice. The base of the mountain featured small, icy ponds and snowy evergreen forests.
The interior of the mountain was riddled with caverns and tunnels, in which the Penooki, feathered, yeti-like creatures live.
Somewhere within the mountain lies a sacred temple, carved from ice and meant as a place of worship for the Goddess Mun.
Arklina
A swampy region where the flora produced oils that could be used in a variety of ways. Ancient people settled in this area in order to process this oil and create machines to aid their lives, but it was abandoned during the war with the demons.
Some inhabitants of this region were unable to escape the war, and they now wander their broken-down factory as ghosts, cursing both the demons who chased them out as well as ‘the rat’ who drew the demon king’s ire.
It was only after Empyrean managed to rush through the old oil factory in the swamps of Arklina that he managed to catch up to Hilda, only to find that she had been traveling with a demon named Allure the whole time. Allure had saved her in the jungle and proceeded to convince her that he was helping her make the surface a safe place for the crowds of Skyloft to live. Empyrean, however, distrusted the demon immediately, and when he voiced his own opinion, Hilda took offense to it, claiming that he had helped her when Empyrean had not. She left with Allure once again, leaving her friend with a new goal: learning what the demon was after and stopping him from using Hilda to achieve it.
Trivia Entry #3
The Penooki from Empyrean's era eventually evolve into the Yook, which Wind encounters in the Realm of the Ocean King along with their Hyrulean counterparts, the Anouki. This is only possible because the Realm of the Ocean King exists outside of both Lorule and Hyrule, drawing its inhabitants from both worlds.
