Crutchie looks away from the Doctor as his harsh, stern words fill up the room. Misunderstanding (from the meme, for whatever muse you feel the most)

Well this naturally makes me think of Bruce and the word that must not be spoken between him and the Doctor [corruption]. Bruce misunderstood a lot of things, especially about himself and his own sexual and romantic orientations. He REALLY doesn’t like the kind of person he was back then, before he met the Doctor, but of course it took meeting his husband to realize that.

Though it could also be associated with how both Bruce and the Master originally felt about Phil– one hating the mafia and what it stood for, especially seeing how gangs hurt the Doctor, and one feeling jealous about Phil’s presence and felt that he was getting in the way of his friendship with the Doctor.

And then, since this is an ‘about the past’ meme and not a headcanon meme, particularly, you HAVE to talk about the Master’s relationship with the Doctor, especially as it applies to canon. It took the Master a long time to build trust with the Doctor, especially this version, after all the times that he had abandoned him.

A huge smile spread ear to ear as he gently put the gifts aside on the table, rushing at him in an all-enveloping hug. “Thank you, my Butterfly husband.”
