Hi, everyone. I lost my job today and I don’t have enough money to cover my half of March’s rent. A few of you have expressed interest in my artwork over the years, so I thought I’d throw this out here for anyone who is interested in helping me out!
I’m a multimedia artist who combines traditional and digital art in collages of images and paint. Prices are flexible. Please message if you are interested!
More information on pricing, things I will/won’t draw, samples, etc under the cut. Likes and reblogs much appreciated :)
Things I learned in two hours of watercolor painting that kept me from watercolor for the last 20 years:
- before you do anything, wet the watercolor paper quickly in the sink, brushing excess off with your hand. Use masking tape to tape all four sides of your damp paper down to a flat surface. Cardboard works really well, so does a clipboard. This is how you get your painting to dry completely flat ⬇️
- you can draw whatever you want to paint lightly with a regular pencil. You don't have to use a special one or erase it afterwards or anything. It won't bleed, the paint will actually cover it
- you are not stuck with whatever colors are in your palette. you can wet the cakes, scrape up a little with a brush, and mix them on a separate palette just like any other kind of painting. You're actually supposed to do this, I think.
- there are tons of books with step by step tutorials for beginners. Use them, seriously. No money? No problem. Just search up "internet archive watercolor books" and download a few PDFs. The art is ancient, they're everywhere. Thrift stores, used book sales, craft stores if you want a modern one.
And that's all I've got so far, but at least it'll get you painting instead of shamefully avoiding that old watercolor set for fear of the unknown 👍
So. Soooo. For quite a long time, I had a strong hyperfixation on the fivey. I rewatched every episode with him like 100 times, listened to every audiostory I could find, read every novella with him, read every fanfic existed (and there wasn't much actually). Then it shifted to a hyperfixation on Peter Davison, and I watched every movie with him, every interview. EVERYTHING. And this lasted for about a year. But back then, there were like only two active people in fivey fandom , and I spent a long time searching for content with him, but there was practically nothing. Then the hyperfixation subsided. And now suddenly the fivey becomes quite popular, and I see him in my recommendations EVERYWHERE.
And I'm like: wtf? Why didn't this happen before? I could only dream of this back then
(I apologize. Just needed to let off steam)
I haven’t personally noticed an increase in Fivey fandom lately? But I am only on Tumblr, I’m not really paying attention to Twitter or whatever. Every 5 or so years people seem to fade in and out and the fandom becomes made of entirely new people. I like to think I helped start a revival in 2021 or 2022 alongside @castrovulcant @sapphyre-blogs @englandhatepage @this-isnt-heathrow and some other blogs that are no longer with us, but there was an entirely different fandom 2016-2020, and also surrounding the whole 50th anniversary in 2009-2014 (the first Tumblr Fivey fandom, and probably the largest). Such is the nature of fandom.
I do have pretty severe ADHD and don’t tend to be able to “let go” of things I like until at least 5 or 6 years has passed. However, I had to step back from blogging so much in 2024 for personal health reasons, and since, a few blogs have stepped up to the plate and started blogging about Peter as well. Which is nice! I don’t feel quite so much like I’m trying to resuscitate a dying fandom anymore. I wish it was bigger than just, like, 7 of us. But of course we have to thank blogs like @circular-time and @heimeldat for staying with it as long as they have, because that’s how you get more of the content you want— you gotta keep posting about it, keep making friendships with other fans, and share all the goodies you’ve found.
I do sympathize. I stopped checking Ao3 years ago bc I think that’s the last time someone wrote a Fifth Doctor fic I really wanted to read. I’m partially at fault for there not being that much because I do not post my fanfic, as a general rule. You gotta put what you wanna see out into the world. That’s what creates community
Apology cake that says “I’m sorry I was weirdly sexual about the thing we both like”
Who all is going to Chicago Tardis this year? I’ll probably be hanging out in the hotel lobby writing for a couple hours each day so any mutuals or followers I’d know are free to come say hi whenever ✌️
Trying to play tomodachi life and I keep scratching the back right side of the console looking for the DS stylus 💀 no bitch, 20 years have passed
Went down to my childhood farm today and my grandpa’s wife gave me a bunch of eggs! I’ve been trying to plan how to use them (I make extremely lavish cakes 3 or 4 times per year) and I think I’ve crafted a recipe.
Okay hear me out. You hear “orange flavored dessert” and go ehhhh. Chocolate is better. But chocolate isn’t a challenge. Every chocolate cake is good by default because it’s chocolate. They’re too easy. What I want to do is make an orange cake that converts people into liking orange-flavored cakes. Golden 8-yolk cake. Two layers. Orange curd in the middle. And orange custard icing on the outside. The yellow cake to end all yellow cakes. Unless anyone reading this has a better flavor to use with a yolk cake 🤔 I would be super interested to hear!!
