Well starting in Sept., the City of LA wants to hear from YOU, and thanks to Christine Peters, Policy Director for our Councilmember @mitchofarrell, we'll have all the details about how all of YOU can submit your letters, or come to a public scope meeting and voice your support for fixing LA's city kitties. So proud to know #luxepaws!!! @Regrann from @luxepaws - 😸👏🏻💖 544 kitties fixed as of today! That's 8 more "city kitties" on top of the 6 kittens spayed or neutered this week. We're just 456 spay/neuters away from our 2017 goal of 1,000 animals helped. We haven't done our male female breakdown yet, but if just 200 of the 544 kitties fixed are female, and had given birth to just 1 litter of 4 kittens, we'd have 800 more homeless kittens on the street OR dumped at a shelter. Most cats can have 2-3 litters per year so you're talking 2,000 + lives saved just thanks to a simple spay surgery. As for the financial impact, every kitten we rescue costs about $100-$125 for basic medical care, so to "save instead of spay" we'd be looking at $8,000 on top of the fact that we'd have to find fosters and adopters for 800 kittens. You bet we ADORE our little fur babies and nothing is more rewarding than seeing them sooo loved by their FURever families, BUT adoption alone isn't the answer to all the killing going on in shelters across the country and especially in LA. Pictures of cute kittens help raise more $ than photos of a #spayneuter clinic, but shouldn't we really focus on saving the most lives, not just getting more "likes" and 💰? Just something to think about when you decide where you'll throw your support. Our team isn't waiting for for the injunction in LA city that prevents our tax dollars to fund #trapneuterreturn, with help from @fixnation we're doing it ourselves and we're pretty proud that every year we're INCREASING the number of animals helped by about 40%.
