You got it booooo <3
You were leaving work late tonight and normally you would be fine walking to your car alone. But for some reason this night seemed...Eerie. Maybe it was the clouds in the sky covering the moon or the cold chill in the air. Regardless you couldn’t wait to get home. You could hear the echoes of your heels throughout the empty parking garage. Your car was in sight, a good mile away. You held your keys between your knuckles for safety.
“Excuse me miss, your purse!” You heard someone shout from behind you.
You turned around and saw a man in a suit rushing toward you with your purse. Since when did you drop it? You hadn’t even noticed! You gripped your keys tighter when the man finally stood in front of you.
“Here you are!” He smiled and handed it to you.
“Thank you, I didn’t even realize...” You shook your head and took your purse.
“It’s understandable miss, it’s a dark and stormy night and you’re all alone. It’s such a shame women have to be so afraid. Such as the nature of evil people unfortunately...” He shook his head.
You nodded in agreement.
“Is it alright if I walk you to your car? And before you get worried, my name is Mike, I work on the second floor, accounting.” He offered his hand and showed his name badge.
You felt a little at ease seeing the badge and shook his hand. “Sure.” After all what harm could it do?
The two of you walked to your car and Mike talked about how boring accounting is. You laughed, enjoying the conversation. He wasn’t so bad, easy on the eyes for sure.
“Hey I know that getting home is priority to you right now, so drive safe. Maybe we can see each other tomorrow?” Mike smiled.
“Sure, I enjoyed your company.” You nodded.
Mike smiled more and his gaze became more intense.
You were confused at first but then felt something take over you. You felt light headed and your vision began to blur. You collapsed into Mike’s arms and he grinned, his vampire fangs showing.
Your eyes slowly began to open and you stirred slightly.
“Easy there...” You heard a male voice say.
“Who-Who are you? Mike?” You mumbled.
“Mike is no longer here. Don’t get up too quickly, you’re still dizzy.” The man said.
Your eyes shot open with fear and your vision cleared. You shot up on the bed despite what the man instructed. “Where am I?!” You said frantically. You looked down at your body, nothing was out of order.
“You’re home.” The man was now clearer and you realized you were sitting up on your bed. The familiar surroundings calming you down. The man sat down at the edge of the bed and gently touched your forehead. “Good, no fever.”
“You still haven’t told me who you are...How did I get back home? What happened to Mike?” You demanded to know.
The man nodded and walked over to your side table. “I want you to drink this first. It’s chamomile, it calms the nerves.” He handed you the cup and sat back down. “My name is Stephen, I’m a doctor. I brought you home after I saw Mike trying to take you away. To where I don’t know. But I needed to intervene.” Stephen then gently brushed your bangs out of your eyes. He smiled at you kindly and his hand rested on your cheek.
You blushed softly at his gentle touch. “Thank you...How did you know where I lived?” You took a sip of the tea. Normally, you wouldn’t be so trusting of this stranger but something about him calmed you.
“I found your ID in your purse.”
You nodded, believing him and rubbed your head lightly, “I still feel dizzy...”
“You need to sleep it off...Is it alright if I stay with you?”
“Yes.” You answered rather quickly not sure what was coming over you.
Stephen gently took the cup of tea from your hands and put it back on the table. He then cradled the back of your head and lowered your upper body back into a resting position. He made sure the pillow elevated your head. “You’re safe.” He said softly and continued to brush your hair with his scarred fingers.
You gave him a sleepy smile and felt yourself drift off into sleep at his touch. Stephen sighed in relief seeing you fall asleep. He was glad you believed him even if you were half awake. What you didn’t know was that Mike was actually a vampire who was about to feast on your flesh. Had it not been for Stephen, who was also a vampire, arriving in the nick of time, he would’ve succeeded.
Stephen had made sure to teach the vampire a lesson by killing him and drinking his blood. Which is why Stephen was able to suppress his hunger when he gazed at your sleeping form. Something in his cold undead heart stirred this night, he began to feel something he thought was impossible. Yet for some reason from the moment he heard your sweet voice to the warm feeling of your skin, he felt warm inside.
Was this...Love?
