A delicious Filipino-inspired beef empanada filled with savory ground beef, vegetables, and spices, wrapped in flaky pastry dough.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1 onion, minced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 potato, diced. 1 carrot, diced. 1/2 cup green peas. 1/4 cup raisins. 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper. 1/4 cup chopped olives. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper. 1 teaspoon salt. 1 package 14 oz store-bought empanada dough. 1 egg, beaten for egg wash.
Instructions: In a pan, cook ground beef until browned. Add onions and garlic, cook until softened. Stir in diced potatoes and carrots, cook for 5 minutes. Add green peas, raisins, bell peppers, and olives. Mix well. Season with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Preheat oven to 375F 190C. Roll out empanada dough and cut into circles. Place a spoonful of beef mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork. Brush the empanadas with beaten egg wash. Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot and enjoy!
